Thanks, KatW! Looks like you had a fabulous and very relaxing time, indeed! I love that you spent so much time in the Villas. That's what they're there for, after all!
It seems from the photos and your description that the original villa was more "oceanview/beach view" rather than "oceanfront/beachfront" like the Signature villa. Would you agree? Other than the greater distance from the water, though, was one beach/ocean view really more spectacular or impressive than the other?
I'm also curious as to your thought on the Villa differences. Were there any "regular" Villas that you thought had a particularly wonderful location or view compared to the rest?
Other than the larger size and slightly closer to the ocean location, what was the advantage, if any, of the Signature Villa over the regular villa? I confess to thinking that the Signature Villa seemed to just have a slightly larger interior space, slightly larger terrace and pool, and slightly improved location and view?
Thanks! Which villa type/location are you returning to in Nov?

KatW, incredible, thanks!
villas >
3 3900ft2 (1600ft2 interior?) oceanview (1BR 802-803 / 3BR 801) varies some
2 3900ft2 (1600ft2 interior?) oceanfront 101-102 101 may be less ideal
6 4500ft2 oceanview signature (media / wellness / 2BR / 3BR) 7-12 (107-112?) can be not much more vs oceanview
6 5700ft2 beachfront signature (media / wellness / 2BR) 1-6 (101-106?)

signature includes >
Dedicated Villa Host, available 24 hours
Breakfast daily, prepared by your Villa Host
(vs "personal butler service" for rest)
signature oceanview - all angled view (like 803)
signature beachfront - all not angled view
just noticed they have floorplans on website

Not silly...but the Ventanas beach is almost always red flagged as being too rough to safely swim. Palmilla has one of only about 3 beaches that are usually safe to swim, I think...along with the Hilton and some other non-luxury resort beach I can't recall.

The original non-Signature villa, #803 , has better ocean, waves, surf view. But it has virtually no shade.
We return in November to an ocean-view Signature one-bedroom villa (#10) which should have very good if distant views of beach, crashing waves and ocean.
Signature villas are VERY much larger than the regular one-bedroom villa. Master bath is enormous, full kitchen with full-size appliances, plus media- or wellness-room. (that is two entire extra rooms). Two and a half bsthrooms, three toilets. I like to have two toilets. The infinity pool is much larger and the hot tub is situated in the pool itself which I like. Reflecting pool. Large shaded terrace and an unshaded terrace. Access to the beach.
Other Signature services/amenities include:
-- two one-hour massages
-- ceviche and tequila tasting
-- guacamole and margaritas prepared in villa
-- host/butler organizes and expedites housekeeping so you need not leave the villa
-- luxury car (Mercedes SUV) airport transfers; on the return escort through expedited check-in at SJD, then escort to the VIP lounge with complimentary F&B and wifi
-- host/butler organizes everything, including room service, for highest quality and shorter delivery times; everything happens better and faster
Having once experienced the Signature treatment, I would not return to regular villa unless poverty intruded.

It seems I neglected to cite the toilet in the master bath. I took it for an ordinary commode at first ... until I stood in front of it to lift the lid. As my hand moved down, the lid began to rise all on its own. I confess to startlement and childhood concerns of something alive and nasty hiding within.
But, no, just a toilet but far from ordinary. Seat was soft and ... warm. It flushed itself as well but that's not surprising these days. On the adjacent wall was a digital strip with intriguing options which I could not distinguish for the most part. Had I a user manual, I might have made better use of my first introduction to a "smart" toilet.

You crack me up. The first time I experienced a Toto washlet was at the Diamondhead Suite at the Halekulani. It was bliss. I immediately had 3 installed in our home.

Heh, I don't know if it was a Toto (sorry, product name makes me giggle) but surely of that ilk. Only in the Signature villa. Face it, bhrubin, you gotta go Signature.
