Phuket, Thailand, Help

I am in the process of taking care of my September 16 - March 17 holidays and thanks to all the flyertalk members here I took care of my safari, and my skiing.

Now it is time for the beach and I am looking for an alternative to Maldives this year. I have never been to Phuket and need to find the right hotel there.

I read everything about Amanpuri and Trisara as well as Iniala. Iniala is way too expensive, and I am scared about the quality of hard product in Amanpuri. Trisara seems nice so far, but I also would love to find a hotel with a room like Maldives where I can get a private pool and super easy beach access.

Anyone visit or know about Rosewood, Six Senses or Anantara Lyan? Any of those places worth considering or should I just choose between Trisara and Puri?

Really curious about a status update on Rosewood too.

With regard to your mention of Anantara Layan, I've never been, but I hear their private residences are good. Bill Heinecke owns one and some friends of his as well, so standards are high. Normal resort is not at the level of this board, from what I hear. My 0.02$.

I like this resort a lot, but nah - not a good beach (Kamala), and beach access is far. The villas are great.

Trisara will fulfil your needs of a private pool (and relatively easy beach access). Anantara Layan is next door too, so have a look into that.

Most of Phuket's resorts are built up on a hill so unlike the Maldives, you can't just walk out onto the beach from your room - will usually involve walking down from the hill or via buggy etc.

Alternatively, there are some resorts further up north in Maikhao, or even further up in Natai (near where Iniala is) which are relatively flatter areas and thus some have villas where you can walk onto the beach (Casa de la Flora, Maikhao Dream Villa and Resort etc). Anantara Maikhao is also up there and might offer a good alternative. Not much in the top tier echelons though.

$1,175 per night is ridiculously cheap?

One thing that I think is interesting about Rosewood is that they appear to have beach villas (which I assume are directly on the beach).

Trisara/Puri do not offer this.

this is why i am interested to be honest. but it scares me to book a hotel that hasn't even opened yet.

Oops. It was early morning - I read that as 4,000 THB. Comma separators!

Rosewood's location is bizarre though. I just can't get over how close to Patong it is. Just a hunch, but I have a feeling some of the villas look out towards Patong Beach and it's 'skyline'. Ridiculous location.

You're right, location looks peculiarly close. Hopefully it's far enough to give the resort a secluded feel.

does SS yao noi have some where one can walk to ocean?

rosewood shares beach not with something like surin but >
tritrangbeachresort.com
with another hotel or two adjacent
all 1BR can have connecting (none detached?)
817 130m2 ocean pavilion
955 146m2 beachfront pavilion
1066 211m2 ocean villa
1248 326m2 beachfront villa
1433 253m2 2BR ocean pavilion (or is it connecting?)
2666 796m2 2BR beach house (might be attached?)
3283 796m2 2BR ocean house (by itself at west end of beach?)
currently not big seasonal difference?

treville is villa and does not book rooms right?

lack of beachfront is problem everywhere
