Hip and Happening in Hong Kong

Okay, so I hope that title got your attention :p

I'm booking for a friend and was hoping for some recommendations:

- youngish female traveling alone
- arrives late afternoon on a Monday and departs next morning so ideally something that's not too complicated travel-wise
- she likes cool bars. This being a Monday this will limit choices so I was thinking of a hotel that has a nice bar (or something nearby)
- I know she would enjoy the Langham or IC (that's the price range we're looking at) but despite the advantage of a nice view they are a bit 'old' for her, so I was wondering if there were any more 'hip & happening' places that had opened recently, that might be a bit more youthful?

Any suggestions gladly received!

Ritz.. Book virtuoso and use credit at their rooftop bar.

looks great but is about 50% more than what I'd hoped to spend...

The Langham Place in Mong Kok would be the choice for young and hip. Especially the club so make sure you book a club room/suite. Also it's a cheaper cab ride from the airport.

Oh but wait! I just googled it and the Langham Place is now called the Cordis. Interesting.

The Grand Hyatt is worth a look.

Book though a virtuoso agent and get 100 beverage credit. Use that at rooftop bar. Win win.

I'd argue that Café Grey at TUH is a bit hipper than the touristy RC.

She could always stay at the JWM and just use the bar at TUH.

Best HK hotel by far for single women is Landmark MO - very female-friendly rooms and bathrooms and a great Bar scene. Very central, too.

I would second The Upper House.

You've piqued my interest. I can get "female-friendly [...] bathrooms", but what is a "female-friendly room". :confused::D

Why not the Hotel Icon? Club floors include a very good drinks night, there is a rooftop pool with a great view, the price is often half the luxury chains, and the scene is definitely younger. Only downside for going out is that you aren't on the island, but places like the Upper House aren't really close to where you'd want to go out either.

TUH or LMO , if budget allows this level of luxury :)
Or else dodgeflyer has a workable plan to stay at non luxury ( just as some mentioned above do not belong in this luxury forum / thread ) & just go up to TUH .

If budget doesn't allow for the fantastic TUH, I'd second this one. It's a bit out of the way, but I think judging by what your friend likes, this would fit the bill quite well.
