As long as you're hot and lathered at night thinking of me...

You also may want to combine that with a stay at Anjajavy L'Hotel to see the lemurs nearby, as well.

I'd much rather have MacMyDay's take on The Brando . . . (without wishing to bounce him into anything, I've taken the liberte of asking them to lay in a supply of bin liners).

For some reason it just doesn't appeal to me. Probably the distance to get there. Probably the thought that it must be overhyped and won't be better than North Island. Probably because of the lack of bin bags. But now I only have 2 reasons left, I'm closer than I've ever been.

odd no website yet, some photos on instagram etc

re brando, if no access to atoll's islands, less unique
although both brando and north may build larger villas

https://timeandtideafrica.com/miavana - new website is now live

For anyone thinking of getting there, it is one damn challenge. We were originally told a new flight was going to be put on every Wednesday that flew directly into Nosy Be, but that has not come to fruition. Instead there is only one flight a week, on Sundays, between Nosy Be and Joburg, so we have to fly into Antananarivo, stay the night, flying to Diego Suarez and then take a helicopter. Same to come back.

It's about the same challenge as we had to get to Anjajavy L'Hotel in Dec 2015: fly Joburg-Tana, stay night in Tana, then fly charter Tana-Anajavy. Same on return, though without overnight in Tana.

FWIW that website needs a lot of work yet.

Glad there is a rooftop bar though, that's exactly what I think of when I picture barefoot Madagascar

Delighted I have proof someone else did the trip and survived. Did your soul ever recover having to fly economy though?

I lost my soul in the deal I made to marry my husband.

I did have the "premium" seat behind the pilot on the small charter from Tana-Anjajavy, thank you very much. And the "premium" more legroom seat behind the pilot on the bigger charter plane for the return to Tana.

We flew Business Class to Tana from Joburg on SAA...and returned on Business Class from Joburg to Cape Town via Joburg. See:

I'm excited to see the reviews for this place! The villas look stunning, and I'm actually keen to see what the rest of the island looks like too. Over to you MacMyDay.

Photos are quite limited so far (villas mostly just renders).

There's a big puff-piece on Miavana in the latest, Jul-Aug, issue of Conde Nast Traveller (UK) magazine. Lots of photos. Apparently a UK tour operator is offering 5 nights inc flights and everything from Ł12,000 per person.

It looks like the sort of place that will appeal to people who don't fancy visiting Madagascar.
