Just got an email about "exceptional" price reductions.

-40% on all rooms and suites at Paris and Geneva, and -30% at Milan for stays before the end of April. Or the end of March in Paris. I'm not sure France won't be in lockdown in March!

I guess there is a chance at least as high as the discount that such a journey won't happen.

The journey is easy. The question is will the hotel be open.

Of course. The journey (as long as the border is open in my case) isn't the problem for us. Also hotels can be very basic at the moment

I'll be checking it out, probably early February - and my colleague will go stay late February. Will update here. The full MO review will be done by then too so will just add this in.

Supposed to be there too & catch up with you .. but “ iffy “ with the stipulated 21 days quarantine on now . Doubt our stay in the ( renovated ) MOHK suite will happen , well it will not 😂 as it is now within the Club Lounge Area .. Figuring out new “ home “ .
Quarantine is not our cup of tea let alone for that long , in LMO ..

Cannot imagine New Years in quarantine or CNY in quarantine 😳 , or any time when one is not ill !
No way to start a holiday or attempt a first flight in 2021 .
Come to think of it , actually our first flight in a year !!

Fingers still crossed 🤞🏻

MO Istanbul Bosphorus is coming along nicely for those interested in that property, with interior works being almost complete and recruiting in progress. Looks like a late 2021 / rather early 2022 opening.

The Istanbul luxury sector seems a little under pressure with many openings and rates acting accordingly.

You could have said that several years ago. I think I did here in this forum somewhere. Maybe the occasional bombing slowed down the luxury market a bit (my hotel room faced the 2016 Beşiktaş bombing)

Don't forget the political situation. At least in Germany many people rate Turkey as a dictatorship these days and refuse to travel to it. Will also have its share.

Yes the political situation and violence are intertwined of course. That said I personally would still visit Istanbul if a reason to comes up, and would happily try out the new MO. But a lot of people will not go to Turkey.

Has anyone stayed at the MO in SCL ( Santiago de Chile)?

I would not want to judge an entire country, but I have stayed at decent hotels with excellent service in Santiago. But not yet the MO. Would love to try it someday.

Luzern is a beautiful small city and even average hotels there can have amazing views. I look forward to trying this hotel out.

Luzern is an excellent base of operations city too - more so than even Zurich - if you are a fan of hiking and want to see the various peaks around. Many outbound trains from Zurich connect through Luzern. I'm very excited about this property! Switzerland is an all-time favorite place for me.

On a separate topic - any love for the MO in Kuala Lumpur? I have three nights in KL as a sort of "add-on" to another trip and I like the look of the pool here. Given the short stay I'm not as concerned if the hotel feels a bit dated as long as it isn't dingy! Is this a good home base for a few days in KL?
