Just got an email about "exceptional" price reductions.
-40% on all rooms and suites at Paris and Geneva, and -30% at Milan for stays before the end of April. Or the end of March in Paris. I'm not sure France won't be in lockdown in March!

I guess there is a chance at least as high as the discount that such a journey won't happen.

Quarantine is not our cup of tea let alone for that long , in LMO ..
Cannot imagine New Years in quarantine or CNY in quarantine 😳 , or any time when one is not ill !
No way to start a holiday or attempt a first flight in 2021 .
Come to think of it , actually our first flight in a year !!
Fingers still crossed 🤞🏻

MO Istanbul Bosphorus is coming along nicely for those interested in that property, with interior works being almost complete and recruiting in progress. Looks like a late 2021 / rather early 2022 opening.
The Istanbul luxury sector seems a little under pressure with many openings and rates acting accordingly.

Don't forget the political situation. At least in Germany many people rate Turkey as a dictatorship these days and refuse to travel to it. Will also have its share.

Yes the political situation and violence are intertwined of course. That said I personally would still visit Istanbul if a reason to comes up, and would happily try out the new MO. But a lot of people will not go to Turkey.

Has anyone stayed at the MO in SCL ( Santiago de Chile)?

Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern Announces 24 September 2022 Opening

Luzern is a beautiful small city and even average hotels there can have amazing views. I look forward to trying this hotel out.

On a separate topic - any love for the MO in Kuala Lumpur? I have three nights in KL as a sort of "add-on" to another trip and I like the look of the pool here. Given the short stay I'm not as concerned if the hotel feels a bit dated as long as it isn't dingy! Is this a good home base for a few days in KL?
