Rome Luxury Hotel
 

My wife and I (mid-late 30s) are planning a trip to Rome in late June. We will almost certainly be using Amex FHR properties. I have narrowed it down to JK Place and Portrait Roma. Both look like great properties. Any thoughts?

I've had excellent experiences at both properties. However, I found the design of the rooms at the JK Place very interesting and far from being standard.
At Portrait, my room could have been anywhere in Europe whereas at JK Place, the colors in the room were truly lovely (exactly this room - called Master Room).

Services at both places were good, without being exceptional. The concierge at JK however managed to get me a table at my favorite restaurant even though it was for the following day and it's always packed.

You can't go wrong with any of these but I'd opt for the JK Place

The JK Place appears to be about 100 euro more per night for a comparably sized room. It looks nice but the service at Portrait appears to be second to none. Thoughts?

I've also been looking at a few FHR properties, in addition to JK Place, how about the St. Regis? Sorry OP apologies for interrupting. But thought it's better I ask here instead of creating another Rome hotel thread.

Hotel de Russie is by far the best option. Ideally, take at least a Junior suite.

Hotel Eden should be another good option when it reopens, and probably it will be a value leader with Dorchester Diamond Club upgrades and credits, etc..

St. Regis would not be one of my top choices, but there are positive reviews and it seems to be a value proposition with Virtuoso/Starwood Luxury privileges bookings (or FHR).

Any updates on Rome?

Need a room in August for literally a 24-hour one night stay (arrive FCO 1:10pm, leave for Ibiza 4:35pm next day). It will be my boyfriend's first visit to Rome. I'm thinking somewhere around where the Raphael is located but I'm hesitant to book it based on some comments on this forum even though the location couldn't be more perfect. J.K. Place an option (and booking through Virtuoso seems like a decent deal).

Any others super central? Ruled out St Regis, Westin, Hasler, Russie. All too out of the way for a one night visit / first timer (especially given we will likely walk everywhere and have dinner in Trastevere).

Spanish Steps (Hasler) is not really out of way, most people would rate the location perfect. Also depends on what you will see on the 1 day. More renaissance or antique? In the end "great" options in Rome are rare.

I would stay at the Hassler for such a short stopover stay. It's location is so perfect. Just avoid the lower category rooms. Ideally book Jr. Suite or higher.

For just one night it's hardly worth the effort but if you want to see Rome's best sight then get a Colosseum-view room at the Palazzo Manfredi and have dinner at the Michelin-starred rooftop terrace. The view is amazing. You won't even need to leave the hotel. And in the morning stroll around the Forums and maybe go on a tour inside the arena. In August it will be searingly hot and jam-packed with tourists.

That view is incredible! I would second considering a location closer to the Colosseum - we stayed at the Inn at the Roman Forum which had a great location and means you are only minutes from the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Palatine etc which to me are the bits that make Rome so unique. If you only have a day, those are the bits I would want to explore and it would be a quick cab (or not too bad a walk) to Trastevere for dinner.

I visited Rome in August and found it relative empty. It´s the hottest but not the most preferred time.
