I only know their suites, but AFAIK all rooms actually have Hastens beds. They are beautifully covered by bespoke Gathy-designed bed skirts. Honestly speaking, their hard product is the least of their problems, although A/C is very weak (or tamed). I slept with the terrace door open (in winter!) to get the temperature below 76°F. This is not a 'bh-rubin-certified'-hotel

Very sensible to put Réda Amalou in charge of Jena, wasn't it him who came up with that hazardous Nam Hai design?

Heard from an Aman GM that when they opened Amanemu they also internally announced Kyoto. Apparently construction had started about 2-3 months ago, confirming what has been posted here.

In addition they are scouting for a tented location 2-3 hours south of Marrakech. Site visits to happen next week.

Chedi and Hastens have some kind of business tie-in, or at least I've seen some docs that indicate that there was to be. There are some Swedes staying at the Chedi Andermatt this weekend, and at least one of them is a lawyer for a firm that may have solicited or represented Hastens or a related party.

right, but GHM is not going to pay to put them in other 3 hotels

if you look at GHM magazine i linked, page 5 is an advertorial

A THIRD OF OUR LIVES IS SPENT SLEEPING GHM AND HÄSTENS
Hästens is the world’s oldest mattress manufacturer. For five generations, since 1852, it has doggedly followed its passion, using exclusively natural materials to hand-build the world’s best beds. After fitting the first Hästens beds at The Chedi Andermatt, GHM has now recommended that all its establishments be adapted to Hästens' unique style, making it the first hotel group to treat its visitors to such an exquisite level of luxury. Rapturous guests from The Chedi Andermatt found that they sleep better there than in other hotels. More over, they say that the mattresses of Hästens’ beds are so well balanced that their partners’ movements went completely unnoticed. The beds made by the Swedish manufacturer come with a 25-year guarantee, which is just as un heard of as the € 80,000 price tag on its flagship Vividus mattress. Each bed is made precisely to order and takes between 140 and 160 man-hours to complete. Every year up to 70 are produced, and more than 600 have already been delivered, most of them to China. The company’s latest exclusively hand-crafted product, Lenoria (see photo), offers an unparalleled sleeping ex peri ence. According to the International Sleep Products Association (ISPA), since 2000 the bed sector has boosted its turnover by just under 40% due to growth in the sleep industry’s high-end luxury segment. Bearing in mind Hästens’ 25-year guarantee on the bed, if people are prepared to spend 30 cents a day on their health, even the cost of its Vividus becomes reasonable. Indeed, after this period has elapsed the customer will have paid around €5 a night. So is a luxury bed worth its price after all? One thing is certain: Hästens is certainly the reason why sleep is far more highly valued today than it used to be, as well as being vital for maintaining our health and revita lising energy levels
and GHM is involved with ahn luh and everyone is marketing to china

The Vividus hasn't been mentioned (as the standard bed mattress for the Chedi Andermatt) by anyone whom I know to have stayed at the Chedi Andermatt. Probably one of the cheaper Hastens beds at that property, if all rooms there even have a Hastens still.

Didn't someone on FT say that this property had uncomfortable mattresses? Rather ironic, but then again ideas of bed comfort are rather variable from person to person.

No it is not Vividus. Bed comfort was sublime I have to say.

I heard this, too, hence Hans Jenni forming LHM (Legian Hotel Management) along with The Legian's owners, with second property scheduled for Lombok.

considering zecha guaranteed chinese loan to amanat, was that the loan? rather than to GHM? if GHM was loaned money, what was it spent on? zecha would not cash out a loan would he? amanat apparently cashed out all money he received for aman shares, from eliasch and BTG. strange that zecha guaranteed a loan against amanat's aman shares that amanat cashed out.

one of amanat's goals seemed to be a sizable fixed annual management fee from aman.

the company contracted to find a lender (who was doing due diligence with rhone group) is suing amanat for going with doronin and not paying them contracted fees.

so hans jenni has left. if jenni had a stake in GHM, did jenni sell it?

I find all this incredibly complex, but I heard that AZ sold his shares in GHM in order to raise money to buy back Aman. As you know, he lost around $10 million when the rest of the money could not be raised.

if he sold it (to?) that would also mean no loan

zecha put up $10m plus for his current aman stake
(i think doronin would be happy to buy it from zecha)
if its BTG, maybe there is connection to their loan against amanat's shares
which again amanat claims converted into his shares, BTG/zecha disagree
aman/amanat >
$50m from eliasch (14%)
$35m from BTG (?%)
$20m from george robinson
amanat pocketed some?
amanat 14% (minus BTG?)
zecha 7%

seems aman tokyo may have been delayed by this nonsense

Vladislav Doronin secures luxury hotel group Aman in High Court settlement

Mr Vladislav Doronin, international businessman, philanthropist and owner of Aman since August 2015 has achieved a successful settlement of all claims in the long-running court dispute. The High Court in London has today issued an order confirming the settlement. As a result of this settlement, Mr Doronin continues to be in full control of the luxury hotel group Aman.

The settlement was concluded with KPMG as liquidators for Mr Omar Amanat’s vehicle ‘Peak Hotels & Resorts Limited’ (PHRL) following its recent involuntary liquidation. PHRL had brought the initial claim in the High Court of England & Wales.

Amusingly this "article" reads like a PR piece too. Amanat and Doronin are characters. The saying "birds of a feather flock together" comes to mind. Rather unfortunate that their antics and Zecha's financial situation lead to something that got in the way of Aman progressing as it could have and should have absent this dynamic.
