The fire is pretty bad, I can see a cloud of smoke from my flat in the 8th (1.5km away) as I'm writing this. It is reported that 130 firefighters are on the scene.

Must be devastating, but at least they didn't have any guests.

Sad news about this hotel. Hopefully there aren't any deaths or injuries arising from this incident.

It seems like this hotel will have no choice but to again put off opening its door for guests to stay there.

No deaths or injuries, but the opening will most probably have to be postponed.

The water damage alone must be enormous.

I remember when Le Grand Hotel Inter-Continental was undergoing its massive renovation there too was a fire and I think it pushed their re-opening back by about a year or so...... hopefully, the fire won't delay the opening of Le Ritz by that long.

Key info for those who can't read French...

The hotel is sold out til the 19th.

The management highlighted the restoration of 80% of furniture, consoles, chairs or bedside tables.

About 55% of the employees were retained.

Inside the newly reopened Ritz Paris

The total now stands at 142 instead of 159 rooms as some have been enlarged to make way for three new suites: The Mozart, Proust, and Maria Callas.
In addition to booking a night in Coco Chanel’s original suite (the famed designer live at the Ritz for over thirty years), guests of the hotel can also now enjoy access to the the world’s first Chanel spa.

I'll be doing a site inspection on September 19th.

It was a fabulous hotel before it closed for renovations... and should be even more so now!

Service at the Bar Vendome is very average but I'm very interested in a full hotel review by someone from FT!

Went on the first week - was somewhat chaotic! Supposedly flexible check-in and check-out if you give them your flight details etc at booking - for the check-in most certainly did not work at all. Check out with some pushing was fine.

The property now has a nice new garden which is a plus.

The spa and pool was still being finished and so not open officially but looked great visually.

Long queues for the bars in the evenings.

Rooms are beautiful as before just completely new and the technology all built in nicely.

Hotel and service all of a high standard and very charming

Will return again soon and see how it is once everything is fully up and running.
