Next Christmas, warm-ish, North America-ish

We're looking for somewhere new to stay for a few nights over next Christmas (2 adults, no kids). We'd probably be looking to stay around 4 nights, so it's not a super long trip. We live in Southern California and based on the shortness of the trip, we don't really want to be traveling all day on each end, so I'm thinking we'll have to stick to North America most likely. We prefer warm-ish and sunny places (it doesn't have to be 80 degrees, but we're not looking to go to Colorado or New York, for example). No snow. I don't think we care too much about traditional Christmas activities; relaxation is key.

Some of the places we've looked at already (e.g. FS Punta Mita) have long minimum stays during that time, which obviously causes a problem for us.

Any suggestions?

Some of those posh resorts around Phoenix? Ventana at Big Sur.

Any specific Phoenix recommendations? We've stayed at FS Scottsdale, Sanctuary, and Westin Kierland. I'd do FS or Sanctuary again, but I'm always interested in trying new places.

If you are back home by 26 December you might be able to get into something in the luxury seg around Punta Mita. Just depends if they have holes to fill once the main festive blocks are picked up. Imanta would be one to watch for a couple with no kids

The Boulders
Royal Palms Resort and Spa
Canyon Suites at the Phoenician

What about Sedona? I haven't been there myself, but I have colleagues that have and highly recommend it.

I think OP is looking for warm and Sedona will be chilly and maybe snowy. I was there once in April and we snowed in by a blizzard.

Yeah, I think Sedona may be a little on the chilly side for us, though I haven't been there in winter so I'm not sure. It's definitely beautiful, I agree.

Thanks for the ideas so far. Keep them coming!

San Antonio has decent weather around Christmas. I was there two years ago and had great time. Loved the River Walk, the Alamo and Mission trail. :)

There's always Las Vegas. Although not my cup of tea, it is the cup of many.

What about Florida? Are there any really nice resorts in Florida any of you would recommend? I haven't spent much time there at all (just a few business trips, where I stayed at typical business hotels), so I'm not sure if it's something we'd like or not.

I was avoiding Florida because it's a full-day travel outbound, less than that return but exhausting nonetheless (time change in your favor but a bit more time in the seats).

Yeah, fair point.
