Amanoi + [?] in May

I am considering going for a week to Amanoi in May.

Would like to add an extra 3 or 4 nights somewhere else in Vietnam, ideally at a beach property.

Was considering Nam Hai, but even its recent tripadvisor reviews are mixed at best.

Any tips?

PS
Has anyone stayed at Amanoi in May and has experience of the weather then?

Not quite May, but we went in late June, and the weather was good overall. Quite hot to be honest, but not stifling. It rained once during our 4 night stay, which was the hardest downpour I had ever seen, for about 3 hours in the late afternoon. The rest of the trip was sun and clear skies.

I've had friends stay at both Six Senses properties in Vietnam with positive feedback, but not sure how "experienced" they are when it comes to luxury travel.

Will be here April 2-5. Anyone else going to be around?

What (excursions) should I be doing?

Half a day's going to be spent visiting the Six Senses I guess which I understand is quite far away.

Afraid it will be March 2018 before we're back there.

Re: Excursions: if you ask them they'll email you a list which describes everything available, from the Goga Peak viewpoint - great views - to more extensive hikes through the National Park, etc. etc.

Shame Sean is no longer there, but an excuse to visit Sri Lanka perhaps?

- Do the Streetfood Tour

- Do the Costal Cycling Tour or the Rock Garden Tour (maybe wrong names, but they will know...)

- Check out the excursion list for even more tours

Six Senses is 2:30 car drive + 30 min Boat drive (per way!), so it's definitely a nice full day trip including having lunch there.

One more idea: Since the Airport is in the middle of the drive between Aman and Senses, you could do it on the last day with Aman-checkout in the morning, followed by the Six Senses trip for the rest of the day and then Airport in late afternoon.

Any more recent stays in November? I am considering Sara+Noi or staying within Vietnam and ending at Amanoi, but am concerned with some notes that it was too windy to enjoy the beach at that time of year. I'm open to any other SE Asia suggestions ex-Thailand (we've just returned from FSCM, MO BKK, Puri) as well for an 8 day trip. I took advantage of a good QR fare earlier this year to SIN, so I have flights booked, but no destination yet.

Almost went to Noi this past December but the wind gamble ultimately discouraged us. I shifted to visit Pulo, Noi and Sara in July for site inspections. Will be hot but prefer it over too windy. I had clients that went couple years ago to Noi in December and the wind was way too strong to enjoy anything outdoors.

Pulo could be nice in November. or Maldives is always a nice option.

Thanks. I was thinking it might not be worth it if it's not pleasant to relax on the beach, but that sounds much worse. Amanoi might be best for another trip.

Yeah...Off topic but what was your take on Puri, past glory? I'm heading there in July along with the other SE Amans as well. Thinking about reducing time there.

Similar question; best property v weather (we like the sun/heat) combination in Vietnam for the end of January; I have heard wind may be a factor at Six Senses Con Dao whereas the other Six Senses near Nha Trang seems to have mixed weather then?.

We would like to chill on a beach at the end of our honeymoon in Cambodia. We have being to Thailand quite a lot which is why we are thinking Vietnam. Was very tempted by Song Saa just a hop away but just a bit too $$$. Had looked at the new Alila Koh Russey in Cambodia but its delayed at the moment..

I would advised against Amanoi in Jan. I was actually booked for late Dec 2016 into Jan and two of my clients saw my post on Instagram and reached out to advise that I push it out (now I'm going in July, 8 weeks). They stayed in Jan and was so windy that they could not be outside but said it was a fab resort otherwise. But they are also great friends with Sean F the GM at the time of their visit, so no surprise there.

Maldives would be lovely in Jan from a weather standpoint...also, Iniala in Thailand/Phuket could make sense if Maldives does not appeal due to rates. Iniala may seem expensive at first but it's an Ultra Luxe All Inclusive. So it would start to seem like good value once you dive into what you're getting. And it will be HOT!

Thanks..we have our flights already into BKK and ex SGN so unless we change our flights we need to find somewhere in SE Asia. We were trying to avoid Thailand as we have seem to end up there most years and wanted something different for our Honeymoon. Would the Six senses Con Dao be as windy as Nha Trang; I had a feeling it might be even more windy?

twice weekly in each direction, leaving Soneva Kiri’s own private airstrip on Mai Si island for a short 20-minute flight to Trat to undertake VIP customs formalities, before continuing on to Siem Reap in around 50 minutes. On the return leg from Siem Reap, we likewise make a stop in Trat for customs formalities before continuing to the private haven of Soneva Kiri.

USD 650 per person each way on a shared flight (maximum of 8 guests)

Anytime! Noted!

To be honest, I'm not too sure. When I'm there in July, I'd be happy to ask about it and get back to you. I'm there July 16 - 20 so feel free to PM me after the 16th and I should have an answer for you from the experts/locals

What about Amans in Bali or a bit longer but very doable, Amanpulo? Amanpulo won't be blazing hot but should be plenty warm to hang on the beach.
