Your favorite hotels in 2012

Now that the year is wrapping down, what are the top hotels you have stayed in this year?

I still like the Grand Hyatt Kauai. Maybe not the most luxurious, but a really fun place for surfing.

My top 5 (though I have RC Boston, RC Chicago, RC Laguna Nigeul and RC .5MB coming up).

1) Grand Hyatt Kauai
2) RC Philadelphia
3) MO Las Vegas
4) Cobblers Cove Barbados
5) RC Marina Del Ray

The Lenox - Boston, MA

Best hotel ever.

I'd politely disagree, but to each his own.

This year, I was most surprised by the Four Seasons St. Louis and FS Baltimore. Otherwise, I enjoyed the FS Austin a great deal, drank far too much at the Huntington Hotel in San Francisco, and had more enjoyable times at the Berkeley in London.

Looking forward to the re-opened Ritz in Montreal as well as the new Four Seasons in Toronto at some point in October.

Thank you for this non US centric rating :D.

For me it is:

Capella, Lord Howe, NSW, Australia
Saffire, Freycinet, TAS, Australia
Amanfayun, Hangzhou, China
Beau Rivage Palace (with its 2 Michelin Star restaurant Anne Sophie Pic), Lausanne, Switzerland
Riffelalp Resort, Zermatt, Switzerland

That's not the overall best places, but the best properties I actually staid this year.

Sorry, still fear traveling to the US not liking to be questioned and hassled :td: .

You've got to be kidding. A long-time friend of mine owns the hotel and and while I love him dearly and I have been there countless times and while it is a nice hotel it is a far, far cry from being even a 5 star hotel. The Marriott Copley Place is better than The Lenox, for the views of The Charles River, alone, from any room above the 10th floor. The higher up even better.

As for my choice for best hotels of 2012:

Four Seasons @ Beverly Hills (especially the pool)
Four Seasons Maui
Four Seasons Denver
Four Seasons Pudong (new)
Love the views from the top floors corner rooms of Hilton Hawaiian Village, (especially since it has been completely renovated and since there is no FS on that island) but the whole Hilton Hawaiian Village scheme - and element - is trashy.

I'm a Four Seasons whore.

The Boston Four Seasons rooms are great (Best in Boston if in a room overlooking The Public Garden) but the dining there has gone down the toilet, as is evidenced not just by me but reviews on countless websites.

Also for Udaipur with the Lake Palace.

Another Taj favorite this year is the Taj Mahal Palace Mumbai.

You have obviously an excellent taste for real boutique properties. ^ Castlereagh is really great (especially the Palmer room), have been there in 2010 and will be back in December.

Schönburg is really special and after having managed to park in their lot for which you have to cross a wooden bridge the real climb to the fortress begins. Some rooms are weird, others are perfect. The Hüttl family are among the friendliest people I met in Germany and their restaurant is great when overlooking the Rhine river.

Thank you for the Ana Mandara, will definitely go there!

If you're going to be a whore, this is probably the type you want to be! ;)
