Bangkok and Phuket hotel

Hi,

I am planning to go to Bangkok and Phuket with my wife in June. I have been looking a little at hotels in Bangkok and found out that the Peninsula should be a good option. Do you have other good suggestions. Budget is about 300-400 USD pr night.

Phuket is a whole other thing. For me it seems like there are a lot of options but it is hard to see what is really the best or next best if the best is sold out. Which resport would you guys recommend on a 300-600 USD pr night budget.

View and privacy is quite important

It will be my first "real" vacation in about 3 years, meaning vacation without cell phone, internet, work etc so I really hope to find a nice spot.

Thank you very much for the help.

The new Siam hotel is slated to open 1 June, and is offering 50% off rates while you are there:

http://thesiamhotel.com/

I will be there with my family beginning 11 June for five nights.

For Phuket, the two leading hotels (Amanpuri and Trisara) are likely outside your budget. You might want to check out this link:

One property listed on Luxury Link, the Sarojin, is (if I recall) a Virtuoso property. I haven't stayed there, so I will allow others to weigh in.

I'm seeing Amanpuri at $875++ for the lowest category for this June -- includes breakfast and dinner because it's off-season: http://www.amanresorts.com/amanpuri/rates.aspx - virtuoso will get you one lunch, and three nights off season will get you a spa credit.

Am I missing something - is there a booking part of this page?

@ bahamaman

Thank you very much. The Siam Hotel looks very nice. I will email them and ask them when we can book.

I will also take a look at the Phuket hotels.

Thank you all for the help. If there are more with suggestions, just come up with them

Lebua

Lebua at State Tower plays a prominent role in The Hangover Part II

A wonderful property.

Renaissance

If you prefer a slightly more budget option then consider Renaissance near Chit Lom station, an easy ride on the fast train from BKK Airport.

They have pool on the top floor which is quite something.

The Siam is a virtuoso property, so you should book through a Virtuoso agent (such as DavidO, whom you can PM through this board) to get max benefits.

Sorry to be late in answering. No, I don't think there is. I simply contacted Donald Wong (Director of Sales and Marketing): [email protected]

He is very nice to work with, and has answered my inquiries quickly.

I'm in Bangkok during The Siam's soft opening as well, and contacted the hotel directly to secure a booking. I'm a little unsure about their booking policy though - I was asked to authorize the hotel to draw the full amount for my stay a month before arrival. This sets off alarm bells with me. Also, agoda.com is offering the same rate on the room with no such pre-charge. Right now I'm inclined to cancel the reservation I made with the hotel directly and just book it through Agoda. Or go for a different hotel.

Just a quick question to the OP, why specifically Phuket? June is in the middle of the rainy season. There may be other islands nearbny where the weather is better in June - Koh Samui?
