Amanpuri phase 3 villas

4 villas are ready for owners' stays & another 5 should be available in a month. The last five by May.
Style is very different from phase 1 & 2 .
These new ones are past & up from the pool pavilions are more stone than wood , all ' huge ' as they " tower " with bedrooms on same level and with elevators in each villa ( perhaps more like a multi tiered Trisara ) . All with many bedrooms - 6 seems the norm!
I feel that they are built too close to each other. The views are towards Trisara which one can see & of course the Laguna area.

new ahn lu interview (not zecha obviously) >

http://hma.hotelworldasia.com/conten...tel-management
global hospitality brands...still generally cater to international travellers...Chinese hotel brands have continued to grow a fair share of the domestic market but none have truly established themselves as peers with their western counterparts

distinctive difference about Ahn Luh lies in how we present the essence of Old World Chinese hospitality in today’s context of contemporary elegance. It juxtaposes East and West, and meaningful traditions with modern conveniences. Ahn Luh goes back to the roots of Chinese culture so that guests can experience the intricacies of the culture in a setting that is unique to the destination

GHM's tradition of creating iconic properties that blend seamlessly into the fabric of the existing destination and culture, the Ahn Luh developments will draw inspiration from their individual settings within China

embraces the essence of Chinese culture and tradition and permeates each Ahn Luh property in holistic fashion. We do not want to merely introduce "cliché" Chinese offerings — Chinese tea service instead of English afternoon tea service, for example. Nor would we simply remove 4th floor signage and thereafter claim the hotel has a Chinese soul catering to the Chinese traveler (or use that to appeal to Western travellers as evidence of a Chinese-inspired brand). What we propose instead is to deliver a product that will infuse in a very subtle manner the richest and most sophisticated elements of the Chinese cultural fabric

Ahn Luh must go beyond the colour red and overly traditional and ornate designs. Ahn Luh has to push beyond the Chinese cliches for a deeper and more meaningful experience

no reason why we should not be able to introduce an Ahn Luh in London, Paris, New York or Tokyo in the future

inspiration from the immediate surroundings when it comes to the design, but there will be a lot of flexibility in terms of the setting and nature of the development. We foresee being able to conceive an Ahn Luh as an urban retreat, beach resort, downtown commercial destination, in a rural setting, as a historic heritage site or as part of a mixed-use development residential property

No pool in Venice?

Kage, thanks for the brillant linkage!

One thing shocked me: Venice is the most realistic opening of all of them - and it shows no pool on the plans?!?

Sorry for me being so picky on the Venice property, but when in Venice I am looking for a relaxing oasis in the heat and tourist overload city, like Cipriani or Villa F by Bauer (the weakness of the former are the erratic service levels, and the partly over-kitschy or worn out design), but with Aman Service and style.

But that Oasis-feeling would definitely mean large gardens and large pool! I hope, that the architects just forgot to upload the garden plan (this map gives some little hope: http://tinyurl.com/3yqhmbl).

So I hope very much, that at the end, the garden is part of the hotel and please, please has a 30-meter-pool!

youre right the plan with ground floor has empty space between building wall and perimeter wall with garden in between, so not shown. certainly plenty of room for large pool.

And speaking of which, has anyone heard any updates as to when this one might open? I am itching to go back to Vietnam next year, but want to wait until this place is ready.

I was also waiting on the FS Cham Island, but that seems to be delayed until, well, forever (or at least it feels like it).

Yes: Just check page 1 of this thread from time to time!
I linked some construction photos of Aman Vietnam there, showing, that they are quite far. I also quoted Gallivanter's, who wrote about a 2013 opening.

looking at various twitter, i see flickr linked there as well. (after i posted)

back to news >

Is it true that Olivia Richli (currently GM at Amangalla) will move to Italy to open Aman Venice? Seem to remember she studied art in Italy.
http://twitter.com/Gallivanters/stat...52139803353088
I hear that Aman Venice and Aman Jordan have both proceeded to mock-up rooms, so put these two on your to-go list for next year!
although could still be a while after mock rooms
aug 21 mention of aman tokyo mock rooms >
while the (commercial office) building its in is scheduled for april 2014
although it sure seems to be coming along http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...1212753&page=5
speaking of tokyo, was there ever a room count?

http://twitter.com/Gallivanters/stat...98338213732352
BIG news is that Tracy Atherton, who has been GM at Amankila for 9 years is leaving Aman to open a 68-room hotel in Canberra Australia.
