MO LAS
I just completed a 4 night stay at the MO LAS and it was fantastic - best room in LAS.... I have also stayed at the FS LAS last year - did not like it at all - rooms are really tired.. I believe they are upgrading the room.
I really like to MO breakfast - as they offer a Asian breakfast - with congee, dimsum, and tea, which you cant get at FS.
Will definitely stay the MO when in Vegas....

Just back from a 2-night stay at the 4S.
So, over the past year, I've stayed in a standard room at the MO once, a standard room at the 4S once, a salon suite at the Wynn and a one-bedroom suite at the 4S (this past one).
Some general conclusions - the standard rooms at the MO are so much more interesting than the 4S that it's really not a contest. That said, one doesn't always want interesting -- sometimes calm and soothing is better than wrestling with the electronic lighting controls at 2 am in Vegas. That's a matter of tastes, I think.
I'd probably give suite nod to the 4S over the Wynn - while the first experience of going into the salon suite is really cool - it's huge and feels totally high-rollery - it ultimately felt like we were rattling around in it a bit. A bit too garish for my tastes. Again, the 4S was the typical staid experience. Boring? Maybe but the rest of Vegas is outside for that.
I do prefer the overall 4S hotel experience to the MO (end of the strip, Verandah, pool, lobby atmosphere, etc.). In the end, wouldn't go exclusive with either -- I can see myself staying at either one (or Wynn to a lesser degree) based on what I'm looking for on a trip.

I had a 3 night stay at the MO Las Vegas at the end of August. I haven't stayed at the FS or Wynncore Towers so I can't compare to those places. But here's a few comments on the MO.
I stayed in a Mandarin Premier room. This room really is quite spacious, almost too much so - it seemed like a trek from the bed to the sink or toilet. There was also a lot of open space in the bathroom. However, it was very comfortable, and I found the electronic controls easy to use. My room faced north, and based on the floor map on the door these rooms always will. This lent the room a darker feel with no direct sunlight. As someone who loves the sun this is reason enough not to choose this category again.
I find it very irritating that they charge for valet parking when no other Strip casino, to my knowledge, does so. So I both self-parked and valet parked at Aria (the Aria garage directly borders the hotel). It's about a 3-5 minute walk to Aria's valet pick-up. Some other people have commented this is a tricky walk, but I found it easy to navigate. The only road one crosses is the Aria valet exit, and this was low-traffic when I was there.
I didn't miss having a casino in the same building too much. Again, the walk to Aria was easy, but a quick 30 min of play before dinner at Twist required some planning.
Unfortunately there is no great public area to sit and relax in without needing to purchase food or drink. The motor lobby has a dark and dimly lit seating area, not conducive to reading. The sky lobby has the tea lounge with great views, but without a reservation I saw many people turned away in the mid-afternoon. This is either a design oversight or an attempt to maximize spending. The pool cafe looks like a nice area to sit in as well.
I don't know how often Vegas gets windy, but one day it was windy enough that the 8th floor pool was closed and guests were directed to Aria's pool. However, the next day, not having to search endlessly for an empty chair in a massive pool was very nice.
As someone who enjoys gambling when in Vegas and who especially likes the casino at Wynn I'm likely to stay there next time and will probably give the Towers a try.

A better comparison for the Mansion would be to compare the Wynncore Apartments/Villas, Mirage Villas, Bellagio Villas, Aria SkyVillas, the top suites/villas at Caesars, and just even perhaps the Specialty suites/villas at the Palms and the Classic Suites at the Las Vegas Hilton.

is paiza bookable?
i know wynn has 18 non bookable. (and encore penthouse presumably)
caesars has always said everything is bookable (incl new villas) but seems to say their new 6BR is not bookable.

$2K doesnt seem bad at all if it includes lounge F&B, which IIRC is restaurant style.
does your friend have a host/relationship? BenjaminNicholas mentioned discounted rates and booking ground floor fairway, but because of his relationship with host or someone, due to his business at wynn, rather than personal gambling.
will be interesting to see how wynn renovations turn out.
$46mm on tower suites and $10mm on villas.

With that said, the F&B is located inside the paiza club itself - which is still regulated by the nevada gaming commission as a 'private' gaming area - so I don't believe booking into the rooms would allow you to circumvent the gaming commission (iirc, 500k minimum in the cage or credit line?).
(Quick review: Very nice large suite with high ceilings, working fireplace, grand piano and some double showers..
We're fairly low maintenance so we didn't really give butler services any formidable problems, but service was excellent..
Very traditional room - not really our speed.. weird mix of technology ( crestron controls for blinds, oldschool manual lever thermostats)..Chairman suites looked very modern though...and massive.
Overall - very nice room, but didn't like the resort and probably wouldn't stay there again, in spite of being bombarded by all the free grazie offers).

Thanks for the OP. The FS was always my top choice in Vegas, providing I wasn't invited to the MGM Mansion. I remember back in the 90's the Mansion really wasn't a hotel. It was invitation-only to their high rollers, one of which was our own Quietlion who gave me a tour. It was like no hotel I've ever been to!
But I will try the MO next time. To those who frequent Vegas, how busy is the MO during major conventions?

Depends on the convention.. The amex (not sure if it's fhr or centurion) pay 2 stay 3 promo was blacked out during travelmart..the hotel didn't seem too full - though it's a tough property to gauge in that regard.

I don't remember a buffet at the MO. I normally notice'em cause I HATE'EM. Our Virtuoso package included a BK credit, but I vaguely remember blowing past it by a bit. The dining area is relatively small with a terrific view of cement. If you don't like lots and lots of cement, City Center isn't your place.

I thought I had seen on FT that FS would be undergoing renovations this year. Am I imagining things? A telephone rep tells me there's nothing like that planned, aside from ADA-related renovations that were recently completed.
