I asked this on the "So Many Amans" thread but I'm not getting any bites. Anyone have experience with the diving/snorkeling from Amanpuri and Phuket?

We did snorkeling when we stayed at Amanpuri and I would say it's just so so. It's not worth it if your main reason for going to Amanpuri is for snorkeling or diving.

Thanks, Krazee Joe. Did you snorkel right off the beach or did you go out on a boat?

You can snorkel off the beach at amanpuri just off the rocks to the right as you go down the steps to the beach but in my experience its not particularly good, nothing like off the boardwalk at Amanwana.
I dont dive but I have heard that the trips to The Similian Islands is the way to go for Diving in the region.

Yes, when I stayed at the Sarojin quite a few people went on diving trips to the Similian Islands and they all said the diving was excellent.

I'm finally going to pull the trigger and take my first Aman trip. Most excited. We are planning on trying the Aman India Journey over Christmas/New Years. Our current thinking now is Amanbagh (2 nights) -> Aman-i-Kas (4 nights) -> Aman New Deli (3 nights).

I've read all the threads on FT but have found very little RE Amanbagh and Aman New Deli. And I've really only read one review of Aman-i-Kas.

So, I'm curious as to your thoughts on our itinerary - would anyone recommend more/less nights in any particular location? Should December weather influence our choices in any way? Has anyone here specifically done the Aman India Tour of all three resorts? Recommend it? Should we just pick on resort and sit still?

I have to say thank you to all of you on FT, as I would never have found Aman otherwise....

Thanks, vuittonsofstyle.

Anything I need to know consider with regards to the climate in December for any of these three particular properties?

If we wanted to make a excursion to the Taj Mahal, from which resort would you recommend? I'd imagine we could do it from either Aman New Delhi or Amanbagh. Aman reservations said it was a four-hour trip from Amanbagh. Not sure we want to do an eight-hour trip for what would amount to only a few hours at the Taj Mahal.

zedthedeadpoet: How are you getting between the amans in India? Does aman arrange for inter-resort transfers? Did you get a package combining the amans of India?

Mr. Megatop and I are doing the amans in Sri Lanka this year, and I'm thinking ahead about our first journey to India.

MegatopLover,

Yes. Aman offers a package for all three of their India properties. It requires a minimum two night stay in each of their three properties. (That's as advertised, however, the Aman reservation agent we have been dealing with says that Aman-i-Khas has a three-night minimum.) The package includes all inter-resort transfer (two by train/car and one by car only); one excursion at each property and I believe a discounted rate overall, although I'm not certain on that one.

You can get more info here:
