isnt it better to keep speculation and reviews separate?

My Amanplans for this year definitely include Amanfayun and Amantaka.
I also hope to revisit some of the amans in Indonesia (or all of them if I can!) Any recent reports on Amantaka? Heres a link to the brochure for 'taka : http://www.amanresorts.com/uploadedF...a/Amantaka.pdf |
Happy New Year everyone! Been so busy the past year that I haven't checked in here, but have taken a couple of amazing trips that I will write about.
Sad to see the old thread closed, especially since it was so close to 1,000 posts and 100,000 views! :( |
Happy new year Amanjunkie! Thank you for starting that amazing thread and its really good that you are back here to contribute again.

Bhutan yes, Amankora no until the GM will have changed.
That is really surprising as John Reed is really well respected by both the Aman higher ups and the TA community that supports his lodges (for whatever that is worth). I've never been to Bhutan, but found John to be very passionate and engaging. |
Respected for sure, but negligent with guests

I've never been to Bhutan, but found John to be very passionate and engaging. On 23 May 2008 I wrote to my reservation agent in Singapore (this was before the disastrous outsourcing of their call center to Sri Lanka) a letter with many compliments but also serious issues. The same reservation agent wrote me back the same day stating that she would forward my comments to the directors. On 21 June 2008 I wrote to inquiry about the whereabout of my email. The same day Amankora wrote me back stating that Mr John Reed will write me "next Monday". I am still waiting for a simple acknowledgement regarding my very polite comments. P.S. When I perceived his excellence, Mr John Reed, twice during our Amankora he was very busy indeed, probably with members of "Aman higher ups and the TA community". - I believe he would better be busy fixing the issues at Amankora and caring for regular Aman guests. |
