O-ya in Boston was one of the most overrated sushi restaurants I've ever been to. Do not recommend, as much as I wanted to love it. Sorry to bring the bad news! You can use the money you've saved on drinks for me and my wife, thanks.

Very curious on your thoughts on RC SF vs. StR (I know how much you love the latter). Same with your thoughts on StR Bahia Beach.

Thanks for the tip on O-ya. We’ll see if we still go or not.

I absolutely loved my work stay at StR Bahia Beach in Feb 2017, so I’m ecstatic to be returning for a longer combo work/leisure stay, especially after the big renovation/refurbishment after Maria. Service there was fab, best I’d ever had anywhere in the South Florida/Caribbean areas.

Currently in Dubai. Staying with family so not staying at any hotels (was hoping to try Al Maha but dates don't work out) but checking out Four Seasons Jumeirah Beach and Bulgari today.

Also, at 137 Pillars House in Chiang Mai from 7-10 December.

UPDATE:

Sofitel Hamma Garden, Algiers: F. Terrible, rude, disinterested staff. Tired, threadbare rooms. I know they aren't trying because they're the only game in town and we have no choice, but my experience here will keep me from booking any Sofitel anywhere...except of course when back in Algiers, because there's no other choice.

Ritz-Carlton, Moscow: A. Spacious rooms, amazing views over red square, O2 bar is great and has even BETTER views, wonderful breakfast, top notch gym, good value for the $.

If you're ever in Hanoi, the Sofitel is also the best luxury option. It's a great hotel. I don't think Sofitel Algiers reflects as Sofitel as a whole.

Looking forward to our annual ten days in Venice (every November) at our favorite hotel. This 4 star hotel checks every box. There is something about a beautiful old palazzo which which has been converted to a **** hotel with modern amenities. Why is it 4 stars? Italian system of hotel ratings. Possibly, because it does not have an on-site luxe restaurant. Nothing more luxurious than being welcomed by staff whom you have watched evolve from desk clerks in other hotels to prestigious members of Clefsd'dor and now, management. We are welcomed every year by staff who have become such sweet friends, to the extent that we have attended their weddings and come now with gifts for their growing families. Have stayed at Gritti many times. All things considered ,I would opt for my special 4 star treasure in Castello over the Gritti or Aman or others mentioned.
