Soak up colonial heritage at the Eastern & Oriental and enjoy their Curry Kapitan, plus views over the sea and some interesting guest photos in their lobby. Enjoy Love Lane, here quirky independent coffee shops, well worth a visit join fascinating architecture and a "good buzz".
We enjoyed also various murals we discovered in George Town incl. signage showing the house in which Jimmy Choo started to produce his famous shoes as a "cobbler", plus a visit to the Camera museum is well worth it IMHO, we enjoyed it, vintage cameras plus a real darkroom was on display right beside one of the famous cat coffees.
You might visit Fort Cornwallis, plus discover the colonial core of George Town incl. original city hall building, the seafront and the Queen Victoria Clock Tower.
Best of all, enjoy fascinating George Town. The Jen hotel is pretty comfortable and was recently renovated I presume, before it became a Jen hotel is was the Trader's and before that the Shangri-La Hotel George Town. Jen does belong to Shangri-La, so enjoy your stay at this revitalized high-rise hotel with good views especially from their upper floor rooms/suites. Edit: Looks like they renovate right now [Aug. 2016], from their website:
As a reflection of our commitment to continuously provide outstanding facilities to all our guests, we are commencing the first phase of our guest rooms and Club floor enhancement programme from July 11 to October 31, 2016.

My next trip starts on Monday, though probably only one hotel of the five hotels I've booked will be of interest to people here -
Farlam Hall, Cumbria (R&C)
Tiroran House, Isle of Mull
Glenapp Castle, Ballantrae (R&C)
Causeway Hotel, Antrim, Northern Ireland
Slieve Donard, Newcastle, Northern Ireland
I'm praying for rain as my prayers are seldom answered!
