Our postponed flight to HK , now in February , is in jeopardy too as the quarantine there is now 21 days in a designated hotel of one ‘ s choice ( none of which we care to stay & pay for !! )
In Thailand , you can choose to have your quarantine in a hotel with a golf course & play your beloved game to your heart ‘ s content .
In Singapore , one is tested at least twice during the 14 days quarantine at one of the government designated hotels , of their choice - so a real dampener for me .

Of course , our stay at AZ Azerai ‘ s in Vietnam as well as No’i is cancelled too as borders are still closed .
Not sure about yall but having to quarantine for two or more weeks is a deal breaker for me, regardless of how much I want to visit the country. This is putting aside the difficulty of having to request 4+ weeks off from work to make the entire trip worthwhile from a time spent in/out of quarantine perspective... Unless the government wants comp my quarantine at Kila or Puri, then it's a different story

Welp, guess I should cancel April's Japan trip now given new CDC requirement. Can't even go to Ventana Big Sur. Sigh.

Ever the optimist, I am still waiting before deciding to cancel my end of April departure to Japan. It never occurred to me that it might be hard to get a test before returning in Tokyo! Another thing to look into. Does anyone know if a rapid test works for CDC purposes?

Looks like either PCR or antigen tests work, but I’d recommend reading up on it more.

Would be great if luxury hotels start offering tests. Pen already guarantees 6a check in and 10p check out, why can't it get a thermocycler and start running PCRs?

At Amanjena in December, when Air France required all passengers departing from Morocco to have tests prior to boarding, the hotel arranged for an RT-PCR test to be done in the guest's room 48 hours prior to departure with a 24 hour turnaround time. They had actually proactively scheduled this for me before I even asked about it.

We just had a wonderful stay at the Cape in Cabo. Today, their Insta page says they are beginning to offer tests in your room. I expect this will be the new amenity for luxury hotels.

Thanks! Yea my agency got some emails from vendors, some are already starting to offer on-site testing for guests. Good start but a lot of clients still hesitant to travel because of protean entry guidelines.

Looks like HK in February is off !
Quarantine , & for 3 weeks , is not anyone ‘ s cup of tea .
5 weeks in total .. & having to pay for being stuck in ..

Now if only ChateauMargaux ‘ s idea of having comp at AMANs , now that I will gladly accept especially in the villas for quarantine 😊 , but not LMO .. think it is the only one that can appear on this forum - have you looked at the shortlist of quarantine hotels in HK ?

Looks like Japan in April is “ iffy “ too , keeping fingers 🤞🏻 for AMANs & Azumi , .. But perhaps we should aim for June & coincide to meet with BESVISOR besides catching up with MacMyDay & his better half 😉

That is definitely the way to go. A couple of weeks ago I was pleased to find out that Fairmont Istanbul now offers the service, someone came to the comfort of our room at 9am escorted by a hotel staff, and test results were available online at 3pm. It certainly beats having to go to any hospital / clinic or having to do this at the airport several hours before departure. If a luxury hotel wants guests to come visit without having to worry about tests, they need to offer this service. It is a must.

Depending on timing, would be pleased to experience Lupaia some time, definitely included in next Italy trip! Especially as I heard so many astounding details about the hotel.

FlyerEC - you give us a week after Italy will allow Americans in and we are there! Baby uclabruin enjoyed Amanjena and is now quite the demanding baby.

As for other plans for me-
March will be in the Carribean. Debating between a vacation at a hotel for a week or just getting a villa for a month and trying the remote work gig.
Summer is looking like Amanruya / Istanbul as I have low hopes of non-vaccinated American's being allowed into Europe anytime soon and I have low hopes of getting the vaccine anytime soon
