Similarly, the Alila Jabal was absolutely spectacular during our stay in March. Was actually a bit cold then.

Liked our RC suite , view & location
Possibly use more of our numerous points / rewards
If we extend stay in Kyoto ( too many excellent restaurants to dine in ) , can check out FS too - likely visit the bamboo forest again but not philosophers walk . Hopefully , less crowded this time .
RC ' s location by the river makes it walkable to the old town .
We shall see about planning this trip & others when less jet lagged .
Just heard back from Nemu ' s Hisayo san , so a pretty good start .

In the midst of some very early pre-planning for our honeymoon at the end of Sept next year, which so far we're close to closing on a stay at the Amanoi, but the rest is up in the air, plenty of time, this is the fun part. But in the meantime:
July 4 weekend in San Francisco:
- 3 nights at the RC SF
- 1 night at the Fairmont SF, MBS or MBBS, still working on that detail
September, a week in Scotland:
- 1 night in Glasgow at Hotel du Vin & Bistro
- 3 nights staying at Knock Old Castle by ourselves (renting a Jag F-type V6 for some touring around fun)
- 1 night undecided currently, taking suggestions for Scottish Highlands
- 2 night Airbnb in Edinburgh (the Garden Room Airbnb featured in GQ, only stating this because it makes it easy to find)
NYE, friends wedding in Austin
- Fairmont Austin (newly opened, looking to utilize our room upgrade certs, but the room categories aren't finalized in the system yet)

Also, just did a paid upgrade for our stay at the Fairmont SF to the Main Building Balcony Suite.

FS location is quite good as well for walking to Kiyomizudera and Philosophers Walk. The spa director is ex-SL Tokyo and we adore her.

Spa sounds good , thanks for the info , didn't have time to recce RC ' s either last time .
Good thing , did lots at Nemu which we really enjoyed .
Planning on NZ next March along with cruising Tahiti . Have not returned to Tahiti since the early 70s !!
Need to work on rest of this year ' s real soon first , just thinking where we will be potentially going to dine , etcetera

Giraffe Manor! I'm so jealous! Our safari is taking us to malaria free locals next year because of our young son. No Tanzania or Kenya.
We just booked a quick getaway to THE POINT. First time visit, end of July. I'll report back.
