I am connecting within 1h05min from TXL on LH 1855 (most likely A) to PVG on CA 2000 (most likely B). Me and my wife, plus two 2.5 year old kids (Where is the fun in trying that alone?). Mix of EU and non EU passport, so usually in Germany EU Passport control is ok. I understand, use the tunnel, to avoid additional security.
Question 1: Is that manageable?
Question 2: Is it correct, that from A Schengen to B I do not have to pass security again, even though outbound is Non-Schengen? (threat 3 just sums it up, take to tunnel, A to B no security - I am in doubt a bit)
Question 3: Did anyone try the Fraport Gate-to-Gate service - is that any help?
Question 4: Who is actually responsible if the connection is missed? TXL-FRA is ticketed as codeshare CA - but carrier is LH.

1. It’s manageable as long as the incoming flight is not very late.
2. There’s no security since you are connecting from Schengen/EU.
3. It’s a fairly straightforward connection and I don’t think the Gate-to-Gate service will help much.
4. I’d go to LH especially since I don’t know if there will be anybody from CA who is readily accessible. It’s the carrier (of a delayed flight) that matters, not who ticketed.

Hi SunshineStay,
thanks for the reply.
That was more an unusual writing, 1855 was referring to the scheduled arrival time. Flights are CA6002 (LH197) and CA936. As written above, TXL to FRA is CA ticketed, and there are not so many codeshare flights a day from CA from TXL to FRA. I also would like to understand, why despite LH is flying (at least) every hour at xx.45 from TXL to FRA only three have a CA codeshare. I don't think I have good chances to change the flight for free (no status in *A, eco) if MCT (in this case for FRA 45min) is well kept. May be I can try to be nice during check-in - but again, I don't think my chances are humongous an LH check-in agent will change a CA ticket flight.
Considering the time with the kids on airports is also a tough one for parents if too long, I am actually ok not having to stay at FRA too long. After all it is not a so nice airport for kids - and going to T2 for the terrace time is too short anyway.
I suddenly realize how blessed you are sometimes in Asia, when there are three, four ground staff waiting for transit passengers at the arrival gate, if the incoming flight is late, and then help those passengers to get their connecting flight.
Also thanks to NewbieRunner for the reply.

As NewbieRunner said, this works if the flight LH185 (LH 1855 goes from MXP to MUC) is on time.

Will I Make My Connection?
Hi All.
Flight times have changed since I initially booked the flights and now we have only 65 minutes to make the connection.
We arrive at FRA on LH307 from Catania May 31.
Our next flight is to LAX on LH450.
I know we'll be in Terminal 1 for both flights but don't know which areas.
Is there any chance in hell we'll make our connection? Any recommendations to speed up the transfer (besides being sure we have on our running shoes)? We will be flying Biz.
Thanks in advance.

Since you are likely to arrive at an A gate and depart from a Z gate, this will be one of the more straightforward connections in FRA as Z gates are immediately above A gates. You will need to clear exit passport control but no security though there may be random checks by the gate.
It is a tight connection but as long as your incoming flight is not late you will be fine.

70 minute connection in FRA?
I’m looking to book this flight:
MRS (Marseille, France) to FRA on LH1091
FRA to IAH on LH440
LH1091 arrives at 8:50, I think in A. LH440 departs at 10:00 I think in Z. This will be a Friday. Non EU passport. Business class.
Any chance in hell I make this or should I look at other options? Also I will likely be booking via UA codeshare if that makes a difference, though I could book LH if better for reaccommodations. Planning on booking UA due to better miles rewards.

Hi all,
I'm flying DEN-FRA-JNB next week. Will I have to collect luggage in FRA? It's a long layover but I don't plan to leave the airport, so will I just transit airside in the non-Schengen area?
Thanks!

No need to collect luggage in FRA. If you arrive and depart from Z gates you will not need to clear security and can remain airside but it will be a very long time to stay in the same area of the airport.

This might be one for the record books: 10 minutes from A14 to Z25, all the time I had left after ATC held the departure of my flight from SVQ and caused it to arrive 33 minutes late. I ran most of the way, but I don't think I would have made my flight if I didn't have an Irish passport for intra-EU travel and if United hadn't kept the door of UA 933 open for a few extra minutes.
The guy at border control suggested a shortcut that involved taking two right turns after exiting the escalator to the Z gates, but I thought of this thread's "Just follow the signs" mantra and decided to stick with the posted directions.

FLASH NEWS: The airside and the landside Skyline would be closed until 24 June. The official website of Frankfurt Airport only includes landside replacement buses but no information about the replacement buses at the airside. In a regular situation, without the Skyline, it's impossible to go between Terminal 1Z, Terminal 1B and Terminal 1C ( Lufthansa gates ) without clearing immigration.
At least my only departure and arrival from/to Frankfurt during the period that Skyline is closed is two PC flights without any connections.
