Will be traveling first time on LH (from London) and will have a layover in FRA for about 2.5 hrs before taking a non-Schengen flight to the US. Traveling Business, and with a dog (also first time with an animal and hopefully LAST!). Hence a little stressed.

I'll want to go outside for a bit after the LHR flight, to stretch and relieve the dog, before the longer flight. For the flight into USA, I suppose I have to go somewhere different from the terminal where I arrived. Is this all walkable by foot?

Lounges- Traveling LH Business (both legs). Member of CO's frequent flyer prog (non-Elite- just joined and still accruing) and BA's One World Silver. What are my best lounge options?
Your flight from LHR will arrive at a B gate (if LH keep their promises) or a bus gate (if they don't). Wherever you arrive you will have to go through passport control (Exit) to go outside the terminal.

You'll then have to go through passport control and security (priority lane for Business/First) for your US flight. Most US flights depart from A, but some depart from C or even B. The lounge to use is the Tower Lounge (if A gate), or a Business Lounge closest to your departure gate. There are two Business Lounges each in C and B.

The Welcome Lounge is very nice - with something like 20 showers and a good selection of breakfast. You need to have arrived on a longhaul flight in the morning in C or F (or have M&M status) to use it.

Just realized something- will the LH lounges at LHR and FRA even allow me in with a dog? It will be in its carrier of course. I wonder what happens to passengers flying with pets at the airport. I don't think I've ever seen animals at LHR. I think I read somewhere that they take the pets from you till its time to board. Hope that's not the case. I'd rather hang around outside till its time to board.

There have been reports of dogs in the FCT but I don't know the rules about other lounges. I was going to suggest asking in the Travel with Pets forum, which you have done already.

LH's travel with animals page suggests contacting Lufthansa Airport Ticket Teams for further information. BTW there is no LH lounge in LHR. The lounge you'll have access to is a Star Alliance lounge in T1.

1Hr 20min connection?

Looking at a tight connection for award travel next spring. We would be coming in on a regional jet (OU - Croatian Airlines) connecting in FRA to LH490 to SEA. Ordinarily I wouldn't book such a tight connection, but it's the only way to make it back to SEA without an additional stop, so I'm tempted. The regional flight would be scheduled to arrive FRA at 08:35, and the LH 490 departure is scheduled for 9:55. I know that's tight. My question is, is it just plain unrealistic?

OTOH, it's early in the day, so if worse comes to worst and we miss the TATL, there should be multiple departures headed for US hubs going out every couple of hours which would give us a good shot at making it back to SEA that day (although admittedly much later). It'll be one *A award ticket so they would (eventually) take care of us. And if we made it but our bags misconnect, it wouldn't be the end of the world if they followed a day later since we'll be headed for home.

I'm unfamiliar with FRA (been through there once but don't recall details). Should I expect Teutonic efficiency, or chaos? Odds on making a 1H 20M connection there?

80 min in FRA is fine, no worries.

Arrived via the B intl bus gates yesterday, the place was a zoo... bus after bus came in and kept piling on passengers. They have a few red coat 'service' employees who are hell bent on herding the crowd like cattle.

The nice thing is that it seems they are building a immigration and security checkpoint right at the bus stop which is about to be ready. So in the very near future you can walk straight ahead and not take the escalator up to the B concourse.

I am flying in from Manchester and flying out to Rome with a connection of 50 minutes I believe we get 'bussed' in from our manchester flight as it doesn't normally go to a stand, so when you mention
building a immigration and security checkpoint right at the bus stop which is about to be ready
then my ears prick up.

Is this likely to benefit us, or have I got the totally wrong end of the stick?

If it saves us going through the main transfer security, then quite possibly. Of course, what would be nice is if UK pax just had to go through immigration...

I wouldn't personally book a 50 min connection MAN-FRA-FCO, but if security is quiet, it's doable. Just get your running shoes on for the Tunnel of Hate.

I usually avoid the tunnel of horror and turn left after immigration/customs in B walk out to the B check-in area (ignoring the transfer security on the right and the B security on the left when you get out the glass doors and turn left to the A concourse and its easy short security lines. Yesterday I made it from the bus regurgitation point to gate A17 in 15-20 min. Wheels down of LH 443 was 8.34 and I was at A17 at 9.20.

Unfortunately it wasn't booked by us, it was a cruise company and there doesn't seem to be anything we can do as 50 mins transfer time is 'allowed' according to Lufthansa

As we have never flown via FRA before some sort of idea of how to get from Plane 1 to Plane 2 in the quickest time would be most appreciated.

Is this the best/easiest/quickest way

Or is there another. Is is possible to get any assistance once at FRA to get us from Plane 1 to Plane 2?

All help gratefully received as I'm really starting to panic about this now and its really spoiling my holiday anticipation.

You could book the Lufthansa Guide Service:
http://www.lufthansa.com/us/en/Lufth...Family-Service

I always do what Oliver mentioned and walk landside from A to B... Much quicker! But be prepared for some quick walking / running if your incoming flight is late!

Does that mean that even if we do manage to make it, our luggage won't, or is getting luggage from plane 1 to plane 2 a lot more streamlined than it is for pax?

How long do you have between your arrival in FCO and when the ship sails?

As we have never flown via FRA before some sort of idea of how to get from Plane 1 to Plane 2 in the quickest time would be most appreciated.
After a bus drops you at international arrivals at present you will have to go up the escalator to passport control and find your way to the departure gate in A concourse via security at some point. UK arrivals should not need to go through security again in FRA but once you are dumped at international bus arrivals they cannot separate pax originating in 'clean' countries from the rest as iainbhx pointed out.

oliver2002's route sounds efficient and I have followed it myself once or twice but I'm not sure if I'd recommend it to people who don't know their way around FRA.

I have seen mini-buses coming to meet MAN flights to transfer passengers with short (45-50 min) connections to European destinations even when the flight wasn't late. So there is some hope.

Once the new immigration and security checkpoint that oliver2002 mentions is in operation we can hope that (1) pax ex-UK may be able to proceed to a connecting flight without having to go through security and (2) after immigration it might be possible to enter the tunnel of horror which is not far from the bus gates as you will see on this map.
