UK passport holders have never been exempt from identity checks upon arrival (as opposed to transfer) at DE airports. Since a previous UK government gave up on the idea of ID cards some years ago, in most cases that means showing a passport. Security and identity checks are two different things. If Fraport, LH or whoever is responsible for doing the doors made a mistake and put a UK arrival onto a Schengen arrival track, I imagine that would have been quite a big deal- even before the mess known as Brexit- because pax have been let free into Schengen with no ID check. Realistically, I don't think the BuPo would obtain pax lists from carriers in order to pre-clear them or whatever... Seems unlikely to anyone who has been around airports a bit.

There is also a slight chance that your ATH flight departs from gates B1-19 and in that case clear passport control at 1Z, go down to 1A and then take the tunnel to 1B.

Z is basically a bit stuck on top of A. So if you're arriving from USA, you should be "clean" and be let into Level 3 (thank you again to ISTFlyer who explained all this to me more than once recently!!) From there, you wouldn't have to clear security; you will have to clear passport control, go downstairs and find yourself in A.
If your ATH departure moves to B, it will be Schengen B, so just do as above, then go through the tunnel from A to Schengen B. If your arrival happens to move to B, it will be non-Schengen B, so you'll have to clear security and passport to get to any other gate.

One datapoint (perhaps not new but I’ll share just in case): I was able to take a bus from Z to B40s today and no security check was required. Very nice for a US-FRA-UK connection!

Do you need a covid test to transit through Frankfurt if your final destination is Schengen and doesn't require a covid test for vaccinated travelers? E.g. YVR-FRA-CDG or YVR-FRA-ZRH

I am travelling LHR-FRA-OTP same day. Fully vaccinated EU citizen. Am i right that i do not need any kind of test to enter Germany and also i do not need to to register online as well ( i am talking about the digital registration on entry regarding Germany).
