From there, you take the escalator one level more up to the actual station. Note this is where the LH map gets it wrong, the station is not on the Z floor, it's the level above. If you take a very liberal interpretation to the FRAPORT PDF map, then you could maybe see that they tried to abstract this upper-level location in their map.
I know exactly where the Skyline platform for A/Z is. FRA Airport app shows it clearly on the level above Z (level 4). Interesting that it’s labelled “Skyline Concourse Z” without mentioning A. Is it part of the conspiracy to hide it?

A map of the same location on level 3 (Z concourse) shows a security checkpoint but not on level 2 (A concourse).

You can travel from SkyLine Station B to SkyLine Station A/Z with a BP for A. When leaving the train, you go down one level and arrive on the Z floor, where you will also find a small security checkpoint for A. After passing that checkpoint, you go down one more level and you arrive in A near A16 and the entrance to the A-B tunnel. (Edit: note this is all from the perspective of someone sitting in the landside SkyLine carriage).

That's the SkyLine A security checkpoint where I never see anybody else btw, I wasn't talking about the busy checkpoint just next to the mandatory walk-through Duty Free store.
Do you mean there are two security checkpoints; one for A (Schengen passengers) and another for Z (non-Schengen passengers) both on the Z floor? Last time I had to use the train (from B to Z) I was directed to the central security checkpoint in Z. I can see that’s not feasible for Schengen passengers. So if you find the security for A (from landside) to be very busy can you walk to the other end of the check-in hall, go up to the Skyline platform, pop on the train, get off at A and go through security check there? That’s a trick worth knowing. ^

I know where the entrance to the Skyline platform in A concourse is (though the photo is a few years old) but never knew where the exit was.

Yes. At least from the perspective of a passenger sitting in the landside carriage. Airside carriage is different and pax sitting in that one can only go to Z IIRC.

Yes, that checkpoint is deserted every time I go through that one, even when the big checkpoint is very busy. I'll see if I can make a pic next month when I'm in FRA.

I understand you may think I'm a dumb American who doesn't know the difference between A and Z (no offense taken), but consider this more detailed recollection: after leaving the Sheraton, I entered concourse B where I took the stairs up to the SkyLine and I boarded the landside carriage of the train going to A/Z (this was the front carriage in the direction of travel). When I exited the landside carriage at the next stop, the A/Z Station, which was also the terminus station for the train, I went down the escalator one level, followed the signs pointing to "A", which made me make a right 180 turn to arrive at a checkpoint with a big lighted "A" sign above, where they scanned the BP that I had in my hand for FRA-CPH and let me through to the scanner. After clearing security, I had to go down one more level, and without ever having to show my passport, I came in an area where I saw gate A16 (not Z16), and where I could directly take the stairs or the elevator to the A-B tunnel if I wanted to do an airside backtrack of my trip on the SkyLine by foot Later, I boarded my flight to CPH on that same level, after having enjoyed some of the food in the LH Concourse A SEN lounge very close to the stairs/escalators where you see the people coming up that have been dropped off by buses from remote gates and near the rotunda where I also saw an entrance to the F lounge with no "dragon" guarding the entrance but with stairs visible behind the glass door.

It's this very nondescript and unremarkable door. It's situated a little further to the west of the entrance. Ie close to A16, while the entrance is more towards A15.

Note you can also take those elevators from the checkpoint to A. The door is where the staircase ends.

Btw they're no longer advertising concourse C on the entrance sign. It's just D and E now.

I’ve never even thought of taking the landside Skyline train from B to A! I’ve only travelled between B and T2 (D/E) and between B and Z (airside). Next time I’m connecting from B non-Schengen to A I might even try your trick.

Not at all! I think you know FRA better than most people who post in this thread including myself.

There are 3 pairs of elevators between A15 and A17. The pair on the left take you between A and the tunnel. The pair in the middle only seem to operate at certain times and take passengers from A to Z. I have never used them but figured that the doors open on the opposite side when you arrive on Z and you come out through passport control you see below.

There are also these doors almost opposite which may be where you come down from the Skyline platform. Unfortunately I seem to have missed the signs in front of the doors.

It might be because the stop for C is for airside/non-Schengen passengers only and you can no longer travel by the Skyline train from A to C. I don’t know what the “official” route from A to C is. Go through passport control to Z and take the train? Go landside and walk through the terminal?

The first post of this thread might need revising (along with a few other changes I’ve been meaning to make).

That way of circumventing the security lines in the A terminal really sounds intriguing. Some extra confirmation on this would be really helpful. Because if this is true, I will order my early morning cab to let me off in front of terminal instead of A the next time I fly within the Schengen area.

I can confirm that it is as simple as noted upthread. I have been doing this for years now. All you need to do is get on the landside Skytrain at B and head towards A, then down the escalator, past the BP check and into security, where you are most likely to be the only person in the (non-existent) queue.
In fact if your taxi is coming from downtown Franfurt then get him to drop you at Terminal 2 D/E and get on the Skytrain there and stay on until A. Your taxi fare will be about € 3 cheaper!

Saw this today

I stumbled upon this today and saw two people zipping through that checkpoint. The one I usually use was packed at 0900.

Only thing I would add is to make sure you have a BP (either mobile or printed) before boarding the train.

First, because there are no kiosk printers at all in SkyLine A/Z or on the way to the checkpoint. Second, sometimes (IME, around half of the time) the station attendant in SkyLine B wants to see your BP to make sure you won't be coming back, as SkyLine A/Z has no exit to the public area of the concourse, unlike the other landside stations. Although legally, you could ride the train to A/Z without BP and take the train back to B, since it's all part of the public area, but I wouldn't want to explain that to the attendant.

You can print a BP for concourse A at a kiosk printer in concourse B before boarding the train if necessary.

Tidbit: the SkyLine B attendant is also the SkyLine A/Z (remote) attendant, for which (s)he uses cameras and an intercom system, as one of them demonstrated to me recently when I asked why there is no visible personnel in SkyLine A/Z

On-board 441 now... we are parking Z54 and connecting out of A36. Despite the long walk, wasn’t their a trick to shorter passport control line at the higher end of the Z gates?

I’m afraid there isn’t but since LH441 is arriving early I hope there isn’t any problem connecting to your flight from A36 (which is some distance from passport control).

Isn't there still a passport control by Z23 that you can go through, then down to the A gates? Not that it would have helped if coming into Z54. I did note, when arriving this Monday from the US, that there is a new (at least new to me) passport control area for passengers ending in Frankfurt. It doesn't seem to show on the FRA airport map app, but it was on Level 1 and emptied out into the baggage claim area. I wasn't completely paying attention to other passport options for connecting passengers.

Yes, there is next to Z25. As far as I know it is only open at certain times of the day, e.g. during the morning wave of arrivals.

If you arrive at Z50-69 go straight and down some escalators instead of turning right towards the atrium. You’ll come to the same passport control area as ANS (A non-Schengen) bus arrivals.

Aha. I think that this is what we did. It was on the level where busses could drop people off and there was a door to do so. I am usually not fully awake when arriving from the US.

Stupid question: I’ve got a connection INT (Schengen) – Domestic. Both planes likely to be bus gates (LH1389 to LH64). If I read the wiki right, the MCT should be one hour, in reality it’s 50 minutes but was ticketed as one ticket.
How is it possible that this is offered – did I understand the Wiki wrong?
P.S I know that unless there’s a delay to LH64 I most likely will miss my connection (LH1389 is usually delayed around 15 minutes)

MCT for your connection appears to be 45 minutes according to the Wiki, so it is a legal connection. If you miss it, you are protected by LH and will probably be put on LH 66 at 16.50 (3 h 50 m later).

If both flights are Schengen, it's basically a D/D connection and 50 minutes should be fine.
