The only way to stay inside security between A and B is the tunnel? I thought the Skyline train also ran between A and B inside security.

AEUW is a bus arrival gate. A plane arrives at a remote stand and passengers are taken to AEUW by bus. AEUW is a label given to some A gates on the lower level of A concourse (see the second page of these maps) when they are used as non-Schengen bus arrival gates.

Yes, the tunnel is behind security but in the Schengen area of the airport. The Skyline train is outside security and has separate Schengen and non-Schengen carriages.

But we are discussing the minutiae of the process of connecting in FRA which might confuse occasional passengers who go through the airport.

Agreed. This is pretty detailed transit information which most don't need! :-)

Oh, well the Frankfurt airport website uses confusing wording if Skyline train is outside of security. It says: "SkyLine operates between Terminal 1B and Terminal 1A/Z in both the public and transit areas. In the time of 05:00 - 13:00 is also a bus replacement traffic available." I took "transit area" to mean behind security.

"Transit area" = non-Schengen. Passengers can move between Z and B/C as well as T2 without entering Schengen/Germany by using Skyline train.

Thanks for the pictures and further explanation of AEUW gates! I appreciate it. I want my parents to be prepared in case there is a gate change and an issue with their guide service. Don't get me wrong, my parents have traveled internationally plenty and are competent, but when you're tired after an overnight TATL flight, the signage doesn't always make sense. I navigated through Amsterdam, Zurich, and Paris airports last week, and the signs weren't always clear to me when getting to lounges, gates, baggage office, and check-in.

Ah, thanks for the explanation! So once you enter Schengen/Germany, you cannot take the Skyline train between B and A/Z inside of security? Got it!

Hey FT! Me again lol.

on aug 25 I’ll be flying CDG > FRA > DTW > YYZ.

CDG > FRA is LH1051
FRA > DTW is LH442

does anyone know what gate area “ASO” would be for landing in FRA, and connecting to (what I assume is) a Z gate for my next segment? Any information I need for security or bypassing lines? My connection time is only an hour (kind of crazy that they let you book this stuff...).
If it matters, I’m flying business. And my last segment is with AC.

"ASO" is a bus gate at the bottom of A concourse. You have to go through exit passport control but no security to get to a Z gate. IIRC there is a priority lane for Business and First Class passengers and your departure gate if it remains Z15 is not far from the central area (or duty free shops) where you enter Z concourse. One hour should be fine as long as your incoming flight is not late.

SO, WHAT HAPPENED????

Welp, here is the conclusion.

As, I said, we got my parents the 90 Euro Guide service with cart for the FRA 65 minute transfer. The night before the flight, they were scheduled to arrive at a dock and bus to an A gate. And they were scheduled to leave from an A gate. I wondered if we were wasting 90 Euros. But I knew the uncertainty of the airport and had seen lots of gate changes.

When they took off from Dallas, they were still scheduled to arrive in terminal A and fly out of terminal A.

Lo and behold, when they landed in Frankfurt, they gated at Terminal B! They were met by an airport guide with a cart and taken to Passport Control. They were taken to the front of the line and arrived smoothly into the Schengen zone. Then they were taken to Security, and again they were taken to the front of the line and got right though security. Then straight to the gate and boarded the plane.

Thanks to those who went through this exercise with me and helped me reach a good decision!

thank you for the reply as always!
Gotta keep my wits about me, and move fast when I land.
So far no updated gate information for arrival, but I think I should be okay!

90€ for 2pax with such a service is a bargain. Glad it all went smoothly!

Thanks for reporting back. It's always good to hear what exactly happened on the day. ^

The Gate to Gate Service must be popular if it was sold out on the day but the Guide Service you booked for your parents sounds like just the thing for them. I'm glad it's worked out well and your parents were able to catch their flight to TLL.
