So assuming FCT is not in the cards, I think the options are (1) if the flight from Rome arrives at an apron position, ask the driver to go the entry close to the B FCL (and from there they will drive her to the plane) or (2) if the flight from Rome arrives at a regular A gate, just walk directly to the gate for the flight to NY. Right?
Whether she goes to the FCL B or directly to the departure gate in Z, she will have to go through passport control. The only way to avoid possible queues at passport control is to go to the FCT since passport control to leave Schengen takes place as she leaves the lounge to be driven to her flight.

SEA-FRA normally arrives a Z gate. AEUW is a bus gate which would be unusual for a 747. Either way, both choices will put you airside in Z, which connects to A with passport control and no security.
I would not worry about an hour connection. The one time I flew SEA-FRA-VIE on a 1h00 connection and had an arrival at a C gate, LH offered a tarmac transfer directly to the next flight (with a stop in a basement room to clear passport control into Schengen). Absolute worst case there are many more flights to ZRH.

Correct. If you arrived at B22A you will have to go through both passport control and security. Unless they make special arrangements for connecting passengers one hour is very tight from B to A. The arrival gate can still change between now and July 12.

Is there a place she can be dropped off other than by bus arrival gates in B? I believe Schengen bus arrivals in B feed into B Schengen departure area but finding her way to passport control from there and the FCL B seems more complex than being dropped off at A and walking to the FCT.

Looking at booking a connection through FRA LHR-FRA-JNB, so ex-Schengen to ex-Schengen, LH to SA (LH codeshare). I'm being offered a 40 minute connection (arr 20.05, dep 20.45) - can I have a reasonable expectation of getting the JNB flight?
This would be on one ticket but the only other JNB option is the LH flight at 21.05, and I would think that if I'm too late to make the SA flight I'll be too late to get moved over onto the LH flight - is that right?
It's a Sunday evening and I'm trying to maximise time at home with the family, which is why I'd like to leave LHR as late as possible...

B19, pic taken in Schengen area.
What is the deal with B19? It's very isolated. Not only is it situated in a special area away from any other gate, they even did the effort to physically isolate the gate with doors and a glass facade. It was completely locked off when I was there - no entry! It was also completely abandoned.
There's a sign on the door and I read it but IIRC there was nothing there explaining what the deal was.
Is B19 a non-Schengen gate in the Schengen area or something?

I flew out of a similar B gate to BEY a few years. There was a passport/document check setup at door.
Also, aren't the A gates Schengen?

Pier B : Lufthansa and partner airlines domestic/Schengen (B1-19) and international/non-Schengen flights (B20-62)
I thought it was weird that they'd isolate a Schengen gate like that. Except if it serves a dual purpose as non-Schengen gate.

AFAIK B19/20 is a dual gate and can be used for S (B19) and N-S (B20). The current google maps satellite photo shows a A343 docked there.

I have a reservation ARN-FRA-INN that just had the connection time in FRA changed from 1h 5m to 55 minutes. Not a big difference, but I wasn´t really comfortable with the 1.05 connection to begin with. It looks like the inbound from ARN (LH801) usually goes to a bus gate, which of course doesn´t help. Is 55 minutes really doable? The flight to INN is on LH1586, an OS codeshare.
