If your flight from the US arrives in Z (usually does) and the flight to the UK leaves from B (usually does), the only way to avoid transfer security is to go through passport control twice (into A, through the tunnel and into B). Not recommended unless you can use e-gates.
If you take the Skyline train (which is the 'official' route) you cannot avoid transfer security once you arrive in B.
Some flights to the UK depart from Z but only in the evening AFAIK.

WAW - FRA - SFO connection LH to UA
Hi all, thanks in advance for the help.
Have a flight connecting through FRA in a few weeks and am hoping to game out the logistics in advance. It's been a long time since I went through FRA so it's pretty much terra incognita to me.
We have Priority Pass, and although our seats on the inbound LH flight will be in coach, we are traveling on a business class ticket, and seated in United Polaris business class outbound from FRA - so I've been told we should have access to the LH Senator lounge(s) - true?
So (assuming everything is on time) we will have just a little time to kill (no more than an hour or so at most).
Given the above, any suggestions for:

- We will be arriving on LH1347 from WAW, then connecting to UA 59 to SFO.
- Looking at the same flights now, I see the inbound LH flight arriving at A30, and the onward UA flight departing from Z23.
- Assuming that's typical, I'm guessing we won't have to walk too terribly far, with a change of levels.
- Since we will be coming from Schengen to Schengen, then headed for the US, I'd expect just passport control on exit, no customs (until we get to SFO, then the full treatment).
- We will have checked bags, hopefully checked all the way through.
- Traveling on US passports.
- Our trip is in mid-July (on a weekday, shortly after noon).
- Connection time is 1 hour 45 minutes.

Given the above, any suggestions for:
- The most efficient pathway from arrival gate to lounge to departure gate?
- Which lounge(s) recommended? We won't need showers. Some light food would be nice, mostly looking for quiet, comfortable place to relax.
- What to expect in terms of passport control/customs (I'm assuming this will be minimal, just passport check/stamp exiting Schengen - nothing particularly time-consuming).
- Any other sneaky pitfalls we should watch out for.

Found it. On the Amex page announcing it, here's the bit:
Platinum Card Members have complimentary access to Lufthansa Business Lounges (regardless of ticket class) and Lufthansa Senator Lounges (when flying business class) in the Satellite area of T2 in Munich Airport from 6/1/18-5/31/19 and in T1 Concourse B in Frankfurt Airport from 6/1/18-3/31/19. To access the Lufthansa lounges, Platinum Card Member must present a government issued I.D., a same-day boarding pass showing confirmed reservation on a Lufthansa Group flight (Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian airlines) and a valid Platinum Card.
Given where our inbound flight typically arrives, and where our outbound flight typically daparts, is this Senator Lounge in T1 Concourse B in a reasonable location for us?
Thanks!

Not sure I'd hump it over to B for Lounge access. Also I've always been directed to the lounge in the concourse that I am departing from. I guess you could make your case for accessing the B Lounge when departing from Z.

if the OP has hours to kill then fine
LH lounge dragons will follow the rules, if OP has right of acces then ok.

Your luggage will be checked through. In addition to passport control there will be document check for US departures and possible security check for carry-ons.
Also have Amex Platinum cards - I vaguely recall reading recently that this provided access to LH Senator lounge (I believe this was a new benefit). I was a little skeptical at the time and don't have the original source handy. Will see if I can find it.

We will have our Amex Platinum cards with us, as well as the boarding pass we used to board our WAW-FRA flight on LH metal (although we will have sat in coach on that leg), and our boarding passes for the next flight in Business on United. As I read the rules, that should qualify us for entry to the Senator lounge listed above (we'll see how the lounge dragons interpret those rules...).

Just follow the signs for Z gates. Sometimes there are additional passport checkpoints md-concourse in A in addition to the main checkpoints near gate A13.
Your luggage will be checked through. In addition to passport control there will be document check for US departures and possible security check for carry-ons.
It’s not worth going to the SEN Lounge in B for a such a short visit. Going to B will involve clearing security between B and Z after leaving the lounge. Just go to the Business Lounge between the duty-free shops and gate Z50.

Clarifying question: is this (my bold above) a LH Business lounge or some other branding?
Many thanks for the help.

Thanks for the really helpful advice in this thread.
A friend of mine is connecting from LH569 (LOS-FRA arriving 06:00), onto LH306 (FRA-CTA departing 07:05). Seems pretty tight to me!
Is there any more specific advice I can give her ahead of the connection? It looks like LH569 arrived at C-gates this morning, with LH306 departing from A-gates. Any advice gratefully received as I'm meant to be meeting her in Catania, and the re-routing options don't bear thinking about if she mis-connects.
She is hand baggage only, on a single ticket, with a UK passport. Travelling in J so should be fairly quick off the plane.
Thanks in advance!
