Can bags be gate checked at FRA? Carry-on meets UA requirements (arrival flight), but I am concerned that it might not meet LH requirements on connecting LH flight which is on a separate itinerary. Also, if gate check is available, is there a charge if I have a free, unused checked bag included with the ticket? Thanks.

This is not really true... they are basically the same (small difference in width) except LH has an 8kg weight limit whereas UA has none. However, if you confidently board with your bag and it looks like a normal carry-on, I have never had it weight checked.

UA is 55-35-22cm and
LH is 55-40-23cm.
UA is smaller.
Size does not have anything to do with a weight limit (that is usually not enforced anyway).

When UA reduced the official width from 40 to 35cm a few years ago, they had their own little shop on the website, as there were only a handful of bags available specifically designed for UA’s specifications. I once asked at the LH world shop, if they have a bag that fits UA specs and after a lot of research they reported they just found out through my question that they did not have a single one.

I am going from London to Beijing Via Frankfurt. I've been looking at the arrivals and it seems that the inboud flight arriver at either A or B pier (non-schengen I assume) I connect with Airchina on B pier, Can I just use the tunnel for changing from A to B? to DO I need to get the a Bus or train?

UK flights arrive in B or Z or bus non Schengen & air China departs from B, so your arrival ought to be one of the easier arrivals for a B departure. You might even get a B pier arrival gate, however you would then need to do transfer security before going to the departure gate.
Just follow the signs when you arrive.

Domestic to Non-Schengen TXL-FRA-PVG - 1h 5min
I am connecting within 1h05min from TXL on LH 1855 (most likely A) to PVG on CA 2000 (most likely B). Me and my wife, plus two 2.5 year old kids (Where is the fun in trying that alone?). Mix of EU and non EU passport, so usually in Germany EU Passport control is ok. I understand, use the tunnel, to avoid additional security.
Question 1: Is that manageable?
Question 2: Is it correct, that from A Schengen to B I do not have to pass security again, even though outbound is Non-Schengen? (threat 3 just sums it up, take to tunnel, A to B no security - I am in doubt a bit)
Question 3: Did anyone try the Fraport Gate-to-Gate service - is that any help?
Question 4: Who is actually responsible if the connection is missed? TXL-FRA is ticketed as codeshare CA - but carrier is LH.
