Cancellation of OS J booking

I am going to have to cancel a non refundable OS J ticket VIE-BKK due to illness. Will I get the taxes including the YQ back and is there a cancellation fee? It won't let me cancel on-line so will have to call tomorrow.

thanks

why don't you rebook it?

Its valid for a year and rebookable for a fee, providing J - Class Availabilty.

it was one of those 999 specials - so I believe I would have to pay 150 euros change fee plus the difference to whatever today's J fares are - and I have no idea when I'll be able to go.

I think you can rebook for €150. No re-pricing as far as I know!?

this is what it says. As chosen fare is no longer available it does seem there will be a re-pricing:

"Rebooking is possible for EUR 150.00 after departure per direction and fare differential if your chosen fare is not available anymore. Namechange is not possible."

Illness

If you are really sick and can't travel - MOST if not all fares have a clause that with a medical certificate you CAN cancel the ticket and get fare back

really - I know with BA you only get a refund if you die. hopefuly I'm not at that stage yet although my illness isn't very nice.

I spoke to OS. Tickets can be re-booked anytime within the 12 month validity (ie the original dates don't apply) for Eur 150 + Eur 35 (not sure what the Eur 35 is for!).

The original minimum 10 day stay still applies.

If i want to cancel, there is no fee but I only get the taxes back.

Good news for you. You have the possibility of a very low fare to BKK in high season (DEC-FEB) even if you have to add EUR 185.

Another possibility is to file a claim through your travel insurance? MOST policies do cover such things if you really cannot travel due to illness.
