Booked an M&M Award with NZ and just paid CHF 41.- taxes...
I justed booked an award flight in Business Premier with Air New Zealand through my M&M Account this afternoon with the following routing:

NZ 86 Beijing-Auckland
NZ 89 Auckland-Shanghai

The taxes for both legs together are CHF 41 and the tickets have already been issued. Apparently the fuel-surcharge is missing.

My question: Is this a regular when booking awards with NZ or just an IT bug?

AND:

If it is an IT Bug can they claim the fuel surcharge afterwards (I think no, but just wanted to reconfirm)?

It is a bug. M&M have always charged me fuel surcharge on awards on NZ metal.

If it is ticketed I don't think they can claim the cost later.

fyi - bmi doesn't charge a fuel surcharge on NZ either.

it could be that they don't charge their own members and thus don't charge it to *A partners on an award...

Last year I booked as M&M award:
FRA-NRT-AKL-RAR-AKL-HKG-FRA (NH-NZ-NZ-NZ-NZ-LH) which was ~180 € taxes and fuekl surcharges. Liked it.

HAM-LHR-LAX
I had a HAM-LHR-LAX and return booking (LHR-LAX with NZ Premier) and just paid about € 100 in taxes.

Now I'm feeling discriminated against

Not only do I have an award issue fee for the pleasure of using my miles, but I was also charged YQ on NZ flights on award.
