Good luck. I have been multiple times to BEY but never attempted what you are trying. As Jimmy67 said, if no need for immigration then you should be fine.

If you need to go out and back in then it will be tight from my experience in the place. Also while Lebanese immigration officers can be quite pleasant I wonder if they will 'question' you if they see you just entered the country to be leaving right away again. Think of something simple, not sure they will get the 'I'm starting a cheap ticket from here part' .

IIRC, you are an HON and it is during the day (the night flights are more dreadful) so there should be someone from LH around to help you if any probems arise. As last note, if you have a chance to stop for a night or two on anoher trip it is certainly worth it. Great place despite peoples thoughts to the contrary.

Great, I learned something new today. Didn't know that BEY was a good starting point for great LH fares.

I dont think anyone can help you here. Sometimes there are fares at the Mileage Run thread but it's high season for BEY and the flights are packed !

What do you call reasonable anyways for this time of the year?

Consolidators have often better deals though.

to conclude

Thanks demue,
upon arrival there was a lady at the jet way - who pointed me in the direction of where to go to the transit - went through that after being told by the MEA ladies to wait for a couple of minutes - a gent came to inquire what I wanted - showed him my BP and was sent through a scanner and up to departure.
Went up to the lounge - to follow on my favorite thread
Champagne was offered in the form of Piper Piccolo

back down thorugh security to the gate - the local manager escorted me to my seats.

Side note - another pax was a tad upset by the C class product offered = seat - he had a valid point on the A321 - but after a bit of yelling and shouting he was told to bugger off and was escorted from the plane - his travelling companion followed him a bit embarresed.
LH chucked their luggage and we managed to make up lost time to FRA so I made my under MCT connection to ZRH ^

Cheers

Sounds like a smooth day all in all !
..All I wanted to do today was to fly to ZRH too from DUS, but everything was cancelled. So in the end it is easier to do a BEY direct turnaround than a simple DUS-ZRH-DUS overnight trip ...

Oh, and good to see that LH won't take any crap and will offload people.
I guess the A321 is just about ok for a day flight, but most of the departures are in the middle of the night ex-BEY and there the regional C product is a disgrace ... perhaps even a national disgrace !

Next time I will join you on a BEY trip to nest some tickets !

Glad to hear all went well. That was the ideal scenario and it is good to see that LH made it possible (HON has to be good for something right?). The worry was if you would have had to exit & re-enter through immigration as they may have found that that is suspicious behaviour.

Well just ask BEYFlyer on his opinion about the LH C product BEY-FRA and he can give you an earful. But no need to make a scene - good they threw them out. During the busy summer season it would be great if they could use an AB6 or ABA bird that has old style C installed (Are they still doing the Lahore / Karachi & some Africa routes?). Better product and better capacity too.

No need to discuss the products available FRA-BEY.
MEA is the one.
"Real" business seats, and In-seat-video in Y on their A 321s.

Fully agree -- MEA it is. I never fly LH on that route (after trying LH once, and having been really upset about eco seats in C and cheap sparkling wine instead of champagne).

Not only do you have real business seats on MEA, but also feel half way to Lebanon when boarding in FRA.

I guess the purpose of a direct turnaround in BEY (on the day time flight) was to benefit from the ex-BEY LH longhaul fares. Not more and not less. I think we all agree that the regional C seating is not an acceptable product for this kind of distance...

Agreed and no question about it, but as Rambuster pointed out, if you want to make use of LH ex-BEY fares then not much choice other then to ride it out in lovely LH Y ... aehm I mean C .. or was it Y ... what's the difference? (no need to answer - anyone)

Anyway, good to know the turnaround works. However, for anyone contemplating this I would certainly recommend doing it on the day flights and not the usual nightly one that gets in around 2am or so and leaves around 3am or so. Much less likely to find anyone (even from LH) to help you out. I remember having to wait over 1hr to file a damaged luggage report at 3am and no one from LH was anywhere to be found.

Are the BEY fares better than the TUN fares?
