The (partly) end of the US-booking advantage

I don't know, whether it has been posted here... as expected by some posters, the advantage of booking LH tickets on the US-website is gone.

E.g. DUS-STR in January costs on
LH-US 168 US-Dollar (= 106 Euro)
LH-Germany 103 Euro (or 99 Euro with direct debiting).
LH-Spain: 131 Euro.
LH-Ireland: 119 Euro
==> Germany is the cheapest!

E.g. DUS-EWR in January costs on
LH-US: 727 US-Dollar (= 459 Euro)
LH-Germany: 523 (or 519 Euro with direct debiting)
==> US-website is still cheaper!

I don't have access to sources, which show the different parts of the "taxes & surchages". Maybe someone wants to analyse the new system.

Is sad, I enjoyed my 76 Euro-"99Euro"-tickets

It's just the end of "Vorzugspreise" for ex DACH tickets issued in markets other than DACH. This was discussed here months ago. The TAs seem to hate it.

Hence, we expected this change to happen on 01JUL, but obviously, LH IT couldn't get it right on time (as usual), so it took a few more days to implement the change on lufthansa.com.

We have now to try more or other countries to find the best price.

I heard a strange guy from Austria just MADE some money by smartly booking an 60-30k companion award in a remote country that still owes me a fortune.

ZRH-TXL in November:
cheapest on US homepage: $154 (98€)
cheapest on DE homepage: 105€
cheapest on CH homepage: 169CHF (105€)

Anyway still a price increase, I booked two flights for my parents for that route in November on Monday, and the cheapest was ~$140.

Yes, so far I have never cared about this... When booking, I'm only interested in the final price.

I hope, there will be a country (like it was Spain, US, Ireland), which give you some reduction, such as the E99-fares for 78 Euro etc.

Only US, because of the exchange rate between USD and EUR

LH is still advertising the old 129 USD all-in fares ex Germany:
http://www.lufthansa.com/online/port...en&cid=1000390
http://www.lufthansa.com/online/port...en&cid=1000390

"Subject to change based on USD/EUR exchange rate" does not really cover a change to 168 USD...

Question Intra europe E/T Class - has fun finally come to an end ?

Ladies,
Gents,

forgive me, if this has been a subject before...

When trying to book the loveable E-class fare to my 'favourite' destination - DUB -, I had to face the fact, the booking fun on non-DE LH sites seems to be over.

Last flight in E on FRA-DUB-FRA, booked on 15.07.08 with LH USA for Jan '09 priced out USD 127.49 - not that bad.

Today, I've been trying to take the opportunity to carry on with booking ahead. What I've found, actually made me wonder:

FRA-DUB-FRA
09.03.09 - 13.03.09
---------------------------------------
LH USA 177 USD
LH IRELAND 119 EUR
LH UK 94 GBP
LH ITALY 119 EUR
LH GERMANY 89 EUR + 14 EUR

So obviously a slight fare increase, the time with two-digit figures on an E-class ticket finally seems to be over

Cheers,

Michael

If booked on LH.at no tsc, so approx 98 Eur.

The cheapest E/L fare I could find was on LH.ch, for 147.5 CHF. This is approx 91 Eur. I have already ticketed two flights for that price.

Happy flying!
