See my post above. If you don't have to clear security then you should have plenty of time to enjoy the lounge, particularly as I don't think they'll be boarding your connecting flight from the tarmac. However I have always been required to clear security at FRA after arriving from the US and connecting to Africa (both non-schengen) - but maybe that experience is relevant only to FRA and/or Africa.

Non-Schengen to non-Schengen connections - no passport control necessary.
Arrivals from EU/Schengen countries or USA and connecting to any destination - no security check necessary.
MUC can handle this very well, not always possible in FRA.

MAD - MUC - IAD Connection
I am considering this itinerary and I am looking for some feedback on recent experiences through MUC. Tickets would be bought on UA (with the MAD - MUC leg as an LH codeshare). MAD - MUC arrives at 10:15 and MUC - IAD departs at 11:40. Based on reading the threads I think this requires a passport control check but not a security check. Had some experience with the buses in FRA last year (Schengen to Schengen) so I am leary of short connections in Germany. Is 1H 25M enought time to safely make the connection? Thanks in advance for any insight.

Arrivals from the US no longer need to clear security before a connecting flight. They will arrive on Level H (the same level as the FCL entrance) rather than on Level I. This might save a few minutes.
Passport check will be in the FCL. You enter the FCL on Level H and leave it downstairs on Level G. Don't go through the regular immigration channel even if your flight is late and you don't have enough time for any beer in the FCL.

Is this the way to go for an IAD->MUC->ARN flight in July? The connection time is 45 minutes so I want to be as efficient as possible. :-)

You will be put off at level H in terminal 2. USA is a onestop security country so no need to clear any security or immigration at MUC (since IST is outside Schengen). On the way back however you will need to clear security, but not immigration at MUC.

Don't worry this is not the US immigration inquisition which is the worst in the world and beats any 3rd wolrd country. In Germany they are fast and friendly, no fuzz, no stupid questioning. Going to IST you don't even have to clear and can connect directly.

Hello,
I am traveling from the US to Prague and connecting through MUC. I am flying Lufthansa to MUC and then on Augsburg Airways (an LH partner) to Prague. I have 1:05 connection time, and am seated towards the back of my LH flight. Is this enough time? I will need to go through customs and security in MUC, right?
On my return trip, I am flying LH From Prague to Frankfurt, and United from Frankfurt to the US. Here I have 1:25. Will I need to go through customs and security in FRA, and is this enough time?
Both trips should be 1 ticket. They were both booked through United.
Thanks in advance!

LHR-MLA Connection
Hi All,
Arriving from London Heathrow with Lufthansa with a 2hr20 connection to Malta with Air Malta. From what everyone here has said, sounds like that should be loads of time.
That will obviously require immigration clearance, but will not need to re-clear security?
Sounds like no requirement to collect luggage and clear customs. Can anyone confirm?
Finally would be interested in going up to the Visitors Terrance. Is that airside?
Thanks.
