Another data point with recent VIE, all OS connections (2).
First connection inbound from USA to Shengen final destination. Had to re-clear security and make our way to F gates. From gate to gate it took about 1.5 hours. We had about 2 hours for the scheduled connection. So we were OK. But opted to skip spending half an hour in a lounge - and waited at gate - just for ease of mind.
2nd connection was Shengen to non-Shengen - arrival ramp to departure gate was about 50 minutes. Arrived at F "gates" area - not actual gate - but ramp area. We were bused from arriving plane to terminal. Had to clear immigration. Departure gate was D. Scheduled connection was 55 minutes. Got to D gate as they were boarding the departing flight.

Not sure if this was due to a Shengen connection (which we had) or not. In any case, just reporting what I experienced for another data point.

Don't really know why VIE is so liked here obviously compared to FRA its better but MUC is much more pleasant. Gates in VIE are cramped, corridors narrow, travelators only go one way, lounge in weird place and very far from F gates. Plus OS lounges really quite crap to be honest... it was stifling hot in the SEN lounge last week and "refurbed"?. It didn't look much different since I was there before it was refurbished. I couldn't see how that was true.
Bottom shelf spirits, crap food, Do&Co or not!
MUC remains my favourite European airport to connect.

I was looking at possible routings for next year and I see IAD-VIE-TXL is offered with a 25 minute connection. Even booked into Business that strikes me as far too short.

There 5-6 daily flights by OS/LH btw VIE and TXL so even if you missed your connection, delay won't be too bad. Especially in Business, I wouldn't hesitate to book that connection. The inbound flights from US often land significantly before scheduled arrival times (in summer, don't have experience in winter).

(I also agree with hugolover about what's the fuss about VIE?)

I do agree with others that VIE is one of the best airports for connection. MUC is also up there, but you're not guaranteed (anymore) the same concourse on LHG connections, in VIE you still are.
Although the lack of moving walkways in both directions can be annoying if you deboard on F30. Addmitedly.
I don't mind about the lounge position though. I only go there when I have enough time anyway. And the lounges themselves (at least Schengen side) are not so bad, though, weirdly, I think the new business lounge is better than the new SEN lounge.

In my experience noted in previous post, I had to wait on line to go through security in VIE. And went through the whole routine - liquids in a bag, electronics out, coats off... .
Not sure if this was due to a Shengen connection (which we had) or not. In any case, just reporting what I experienced for another data point.

Note, at VIE you can use fast track at security check even if youre only FTL on Miles & More

he arrived at non-Schengen zone and left from non-Schengen, so a different story than yours. you have to pass thru the security check when you go from non-Schengen to Schengen zone.

Based on my recent experience (previous post, upthread) I would hesitate. However, since 25 min is the MCT - I guess I would ask myself - if I missed the connection - when is the next flight that I may be able to take? Is it 2 hours or 7 hours later?

They do?
Well there go my plans of trying to self-connect from EW to LH.
Last I've been to MUC, they were in T2.
i ageee regarding the SEN lounge which I used to like for it’s nice views prior to the recent renovation. Now that they have eliminated the bar tables alongside the front windows and instead installed curtains and ordinary table seating I no longer find it that inviting (although now it does seat more people which I appreciate as it does get crowded at times)..
