Connecting in Vienna [VIE]

VIE should not be much of an issue if your flight out of TXL is on time. That is a whole different story. My on-time experience on the TXL-VIE route has seen a definitive negative trend over recent months (other flights out of TXL as well).

The worst case is 9 hours in Vienna... A Schnitzel at Figlmüller and a piece of Sacher Cake and the layover is over...

What is the MCT for BR to OS (I/I)? I find conflicting info. 25min is suggested on webpage of the airport (Star Alliance flights), 30min or 45min on Expertflyer
I have an upcoming TPE-VIE flight on BR and continuing to CPH on OS (separate tickets).

On separate tickets, I'd not do that with less than 2 hours connection time (no luggage, boarding pass in hand), or 3 hours (luggage, need to retrieve boarding pass) - and even more during busy times (holidays) since booking a ticket on the spot might not be even possible then. Or rather expensive. Since we're talking short-haul. The other way, ie short haul connecting to long haul on two tickets, I'd give myself even more time - much more problems in case of a missed connection.
The low MCT's in VIE really only works connections on one ticket, and preferable both flights on OS (or at least LH group) - they'll hold flights, especially long hauls. But if they don't even know you're coming, the gate most probably will be closed once boarding is complete. Why wait for a passenger if it's not their problem? And on two tickets, it won't be their problem at all..

Thank you for comments/lecture - I'm perfectly aware of the risks when travelling separate tickets. I don't share your risk aversion; as long as MCT is complied with I have no issues travelling on separate tickets (hand luggage only). I have 40 min at VIE and often the BR flight arrives early (and is hardly ever delayed). There should be enough time to clear immigration and security early in the morning. In the unlikely event that I miss the flight, I take it from there.
However, your comments do not really address my Q: What is the MCT for BR to OS at VIE?

Hi, looking to book LHR-VIE-IKA next year which has a connection time of 25 minutes. We are UK passport holders, never flown Austrian before.
Can anyone advise on the transfer process itself? Do we go through security again? Or just out of one gate and head to the next? As IKA isnt EU i wasnt sure how that worked to have such a short MCT.
As the VIE-IKA leg is over 4 hours i'd want to have a large bottle of water with me for the flight, hence asking about security/liquids, as 25 minutes doesnt appear to leave us much time to pick one up in VIE.
Appreciate hearing any recent experiences. I'm not good with MCTs, I once had a 45min flying DUB-LHR-JFK and it was really stressful but mainly as we had to go through security and switch terminals.

If this is booked as 1 ticket there is no issue - it is a perfectly valid connection and you will make it to the IKA flight. In the unlikely event that you miss the IKA flight, OS will take care of you. There is nothing to worry about.
But I agree that there is no time for strolling around in the airport or shopping - you need to go straight to the gate of the IKA flight.
