Lol if I was allowed to book codeshares in the OS 50th sale I would have booked one of the legs on LY, and I would have been on VO for the FRA-VIE leg. I'll know if the incident is isolated soon enough; my return aircraft just pulled up to the gate and we board in 20 minutes. Will advise.

Return flight no problems (though one of the service carts crashed into me on VIE-FRA when it got away from its F/A). But my experience with Israeli security was quite an adventure!

It may be a long time before I have the opportunity to test VO, but I'll give them a shot soon!

Okay, my next flight is this Saturday, LH422 LV 1230 to BOS. Anybody going to be flying that day who wants coffee?

Question to VIE connection experts!

Hi,

I am currently booked on PRG-FRA via VIE by VO/OS. LH has "I" availability on non-stops, but the infamous UA's StarNet prevents me from booking using UA miles. Anyhow the details are;

Arriving VIE (from PRG) at 19:20 by VO (a/c: DH4)
Departing VIE (to FRA) at 19:45 by OS (a/c: A320)

UA agents were telling me this is legal connection and VIE is a small airport. Also, I plan to do only a carry-on, but considering me being on DH4, I would have to check my bag, thus the connection would be more challenging...???

Any thoughts are much appreciated.

If your luggage is carry on size then you collect it at the aircraft - only wait 1 minute for it.

As long as flights are reasonably on time you will have no problem making the connection.

The connection works perfect, if everything is on time. The MCT is 25 minutes and you and your luggage will reach the onward flight. If there is a delay, expect a direct transfer to the onward flight.

PRG-VIE will have an outside position, so you will arrive with a bus. VIE-FRA will depart from the C gates.

Probably fine, but have you checked the prices of the non-stop flight? Might be not much more expensive than the fees on the connecting flight and saves a few hours.

I know, that's why I am asking. The taxes and fees for PRG-VIE-FRA-VIE-PRG are EUR 218.24 (in addition to the miles), whilst a direct paid flight PRG-FRA-PRG costs EUR 233 (for random dates in November).

OS Itinerary: Reasonable Connection Times at VIE?

I am arranging travel for a family member who has not flown internationally before. I have booked an award ticket from UA/MP for travel on OS as follows:

BKK-VIE OS26 23:55 – 05:35 +1
VIE-CDG OS 411 07:10 – 09:20

CDG-VIE OS 418 20:35 – 22:35
VIE-BKK OS 25 23:20 – 14:20 +1

Do you think these connections are safe given the short transfer times at VIE? Class of service is Business. There will be checked bags.

I have done yesterday the MUC-VIE-BKK connection without any problem.

We arrived at 22:40 and at this time the airport is empty. So there is no time to weiat for immigration and security. Walking from C to A is possible in 2 minutes. Short walk.

The inbound should be OK to also get an idea about the airport.
The outbound should also be OK, because you know, where what is.

Since the Airport is not that big, he/she should really be OK just to follow the signs for the gate.

Definitely safe on the outbound, and if there is a big delay, they will simply be rebooked to the next VIE-CDG flight.

On the inbound, it is probably fine, but if you want to be on the safe side, I would take one earlier flight CDG-VIE. Otherwise, if the CDG-VIE is delayed by half an hour, you will miss your VIE-BKK flight and will have to wait until the next day. No need to get the blood pressure of someone that has never flown before too high just to save 85 minutes of travel time.

The outbound it no problem at all. The inbound connection is a bit tight but given the short ways in VIE it should be ok.
