That depends if you are travelling on an EU passport or not. If you are travelling on an EU passport you will not get a stamp, no matter where you arrive from

I'm pretty sure you can still ask for the stamp if you wish it. I know at least a couple of people who "collect" those and have EU passports, too.

LOL, that’s ‘interesting’, I shall give it a try tomorrow at Munich [or maybe not as travelling to/from Sarajevo on a weekly basis both my (EU) passports are now nearly at full capacity ].

Well, I see that today I would have missed the connection.
OS414 left Paris 3 hours and 45 minutes later. Arriving in Vienna after the connection departed.
What happened to OS 414 today? Anyone can figure it out? What to do in such a situation?
I fly next Monday. Hope today is just an exception???!!!

As this topic covers an OS connection, I'm going to move it over to the Miles and More forum for any additional attention, and for future reference.

Please continue to follow the discussion and more in Miles and More.

What's the slickest way to get into the Senator lounge at VIE for a shower when traveling ORD-VIE-FRA-JNB with a 9-hour layover in VIE? We'll be on a single ticket so assuming bags will be checked thru all the way to JNB. We're *G and booked in biz. Is there any way of staying airside once thru passport/security check and then transit over to the Schengen departure area for the lounge? Is it then possible to exit the departure lounge after an hour and exit landside thru proper immigration? Don't want to be held in lounge for 9 hours...

If you're in Schengen there wouldn't be any immigration to exit.

Why don’t you use the non-Schengen SEN Lounge upon arrival, take a shower there, clear immigration, go into the city and then head back towards the airport for your onward departure?

One way or another... no issue leaving after visiting the lounge.

first things first, i know that if airlines sell this type of ticket with this short conncetion then there is a big chance to catch the flight however, i just wanna ask for your experience..

i booked PRG MLE via VIE with 25mins stopover (i know but better than 5 hours there) and I just wanted to ask if somebody was "fighting" with Austrian if they didnt catch the flight due to DE-ICING, which could be stated as a delay reason - weather conditions which would not entitle you for compensation of EU261.

I wouldnt really care about it, if I would arrive to MLE with delay of hours but as there is no other connection with Star Alliance members I believe i will have to stay in VIE for a day which will be pretty much complicated for my family of 5 and our domestic flight bookings + hotel bookings.. is there something like compensation of the real amount instead of using EU261?

Or any chance to get flights with EK or QR to get to the destination at the same day of arrival?
also i called to AUA and they told me they can CANCEL my first leg PRG VIE, and i can fly directly from VIE for FREE OF CHARGE! (which is wow for those deals) but they couldnt change the booking as it is in the lowest Y fare.
thank you for your experiences (i might post this into other thread but i felt like this is the most accurate one with specific stuff

so we did the PRG - VIE - MLE.
the first leg was delayed due to late arrival of A/C for over 25mins (our connection time) - so gate staff started to rebook passengers accordingly, they told that in my case I could fly with FlyDubai from PRG to DXB (which i disagreed on as i dont wanna fly flydubai lol).. so they told me to fly to VIE, try to catch the flight or get in touch with transfer desk there and they WILL rebook me to Qatar Airways or Emirates flight from VIE.
The boarding was so fast and the whole flight was so quick, that we have arrived with only 15mins delay, we arrived at the GATE(so we didnt have to wait for bus) at 19:52 and we ran to the VIE-MLE flight gate and arrived at 19:59.. The staff at VIE was shocked that we were so fast and even I didnt get it lol (we had to go through passport control as well and it was on the other side of the airport.)

So yep, if you have 25mins and your plane departure is delayed for 25mins, you can still do it!
(also why am i stupid and didnt want the qatar/emirates flight and get compensation of 600EUR? i dont know
good luck for everybody at VIE!

Hi,

EWR - VIE _ HAJ with Austrian Airlines in Business and then Germanwings in Biz. Arriving Sat 8:10 am and departing 9:30am (one ticket).
As I understand it Vienna has a MCT of only 25 minutes but not sure what the procedure is coming from the US (one US paasport / one EU passport) beside passport control. Does anyone know how far the gates are usually away from each other? Any lounge easy to pop into (not a must but with 1:20 connecting time and a 25 min MCT there might be some time to kill)
