I have a 1h10m non-Schengen to Schengen connection at VIE later this month, DBV-VIE-CPH. Am I correct in thinking that:
Thanks.
- the flight from DBV should deplane directly into G? Croatia is an EU member, albeit non-Schengen, so should be regarded as "clean" for EU security purposes.
- If the above is correct, then I will only need to clear passport control to be stamped into Schengen, which will then give me access to F?
- There should be no security checkpoint as my CPH flight should depart from F.
Thanks.

plenty of time to connect. Depending on type of aircraft used on the DBV hop (apron position), you may not arrive at G gates but non-Schengen area of the airport. in any case, this would mean passport controls when making your way to F gates. No security.

Yes, I'm not worried about the connection but I do always like to know what to expect. Thanks! ^

I'm booking an award flight on United from Berlin to LAX. The only 1 stop option is Austrian Airlines with a 1 hr 10 min layover in Vienna. Is this enough time? What happens if I miss my connection due to a delay? Not been to VIE before or flown Austrian Airlines so not sure what to expect. Also, I have a US passport.
Berlin, DE (TXL - Tegel) to Vienna, AT (VIE)
7:30 am - 8:50 am

1h 10m connection
Vienna, AT (VIE) to Los Angeles, CA, US (LAX)

Hi everyone!
I booked a short connexion in VIE, will I have time to make it, and even have a drink at the SEN lounge ?
Here's the plan
STR-VIE 10:35 - 11:50
VIE-KRK 13:05 - 14:05
KRK-VIE 15:10 - 16:10
VIE-STR 17:25 - 18:40 (with a nice Do&Co meal pre-ordered)
TIA!

jules67500,
1:10+ in Vienna is plenty of time. Should leave you half an hour of Lounge time depending on whether you have a bus arrival / departure from/to STR. KRK typically is operated by Dash4-800, hence apron position.

If you depart from F gates it's right after the duty free in the walkway towards the gates. Just when you enter, it's on the right hand side.

Thanks for the answer, everything went smoothly except the onward flight had a 1hr55' delay... I spent this time in the lounge which is pretty correct.

35 min connect time - can this be done
Booked SZG-VIE-PRG all on OS DHC's with a 35 minute connection in VIE, is this enough time? Last flights of the day as part of our May trip. Does OS wait for passengers if there are short delays on incoming flights?

You can often make a 15 minute connection in VIE OS/OS, especially if arriving to a jetway gate, which admittedly you won't from Salzburg. Though I don't know about bags.
Still Vienna takes pride in having the shortest minimum connection time in Europe, and it's very much OK to have a 35 minute connection, at least provided you aren't late on arrival. Don't know about waiting, but I would suppose they would for the last flight of the day.

At VIE now and it is a cluster. Arrived into G gate position from DBV at 1630 and walked into a long queue for passport control which took about 10 minutes to clear. No tensabarriers or anything to keep order other than a poor woman directing people flowing out of our gate to the back of the queue, while people all worried about their connection tried to jump the line. I was feeling ok with a 65 min connection until the maze of corridors led us to... the back of a queue for security. Er, what? This was another 15 minute wait to get to the front, not helped by the seeds of anarchy which were being sown by desperate passengers opening up tensabarriers to try and cut the queue (this was stopped while we were in line for the screening when the VIE worker, after cantankerously yelling at people to stop doing it and being ignored, ran and got a muscly Polizei officer with a gun to come and stand guard). Including the walking time of 5 mins between passport control and security, and not even counting the time from security to the transfer gate or the taxi time of the arriving flight from runway to stand, anyone with a sub 35 minute connection would I think have missed their flight if OS did not hold it for them.
I don't know if this was a one off or not for Non-Schengen Clean but assuming this is the new normal, I recommend:
For us it all ended fine because our CPH flight ended up delayed by an hour anyway, but there were a lot of stressy people at security. The whole mess also wasn't really what I had expected from the fact that they sell a 25 min MCT and from reports here!
I don't know if this was a one off or not for Non-Schengen Clean but assuming this is the new normal, I recommend:
- not dawdling. Get off the plane as fast as you can and walk purposefully to passport control.
- pick your passport control line carefully. Some lines end in a booth which is further away than other booths, so assess the length of the line by true distance from that booth rather than from the same fixed end point.
- don't try asking the workers if you can cut the queue. They'll just say no and you'll have wasted valuable time trying to argue. Just be smart and alert to the best opportunities to move through as efficiently as possible.
- be prepared for security again even if coming in from Non-Schengen Clean.

I've got an OS flight coming up EWR-VIE-TLV.
From what I've read, with this being a non-Schengen to non-Schengen transfer and both flights in VIE gate G, I won't need to go through immigration.
But do I need to go through security control at any point in VIE, or is it just like a same-terminal domestic transfer in the US?
No worries on transfer time, just curious on the logistics.
