Apologies - it's only in German, but prices should be clear to make out.

Flugzeiten (LH): Cairo – Frankfurt 02.40 – 06.10
- Als Miles & More Mitglied können Sie mit diesen Tarifen dreifache Statusmeilen sammeln, sie erhalten z.B. 35.382 Statusmeilen für den Flug nach Bombay (Delhi 33.714 / Singapur 49.212 / Hong Kong 45.018 / Peking 39.930 / Shanghai 43.860 / Manila 49.290 / Jakarta 52.350). So if they can book (and issue?) F tickets at ex-CAI prices can they also book RTW tickets ex-CAI?

Last year, I could personally book these fares right on the LH website and had the ticket issued through the local LH office here in Zurich without problems.

So if the Vorne-sitzen folks can do it, I suppose we can (again) do that ourselves as well? No need to pick up the tickets in Egypt.

Airoli,

Maybe I am doing this wrong, but I went to LH site and punched in CAI-BKK dep 4/4/04, return 21/4/04 using both Germany Domicile and UK domicil. Price was just over €8000 for Germany and £5000 for UK. I tried Egypt domicile but it came up with a message referring me to LH phone.

Is this how you get those cheap prices?

You needed to go to lufthansa.com.eg to book, but I've just checked and the interface is no longer there.

LH offers these prices from CAI for a reason.

BA offers similar deals from LIS.

I seriously doubt whether LH's fares marketing division is influenced by FTers taking advantage of published lower fares.

There are no tricks here. There is no hidden city ticketing. No back to backs. No convoluted routings.

Call Vorner Sitzen if you don't believe me.

Let me start a little bit away from your statement:

As you know, Meilensammler creates a web page where he has a lot to offer. But do you find the fares we are talking about right now, on his page? My guess is: No.

Scrolling down on this page, you will find space for ordering the newsletter for free. Within this newsletter you will find special offers, which are not available on their web-page.

My next question is: Why does a TA not promote one of his most attractive fares, especially if they are published (should be also available from other sources like tcswede’s TA) on his web-page? There must be a reason other than lack of time/laziness/technical difficulties and so on.

Seriously: I personally had the pleasure to meet up with Meilensammler in person, and I also one of his satisfied customers (maybe you realised that the only customer loyalty card I am announcing in my profile is Destinations Card) like many others here. It is his business to decide which channel he uses to promote his company and every member has that pleasure to decide if he likes to share these offer on a public board. It goes without saying, that this well within our house rules, although to post or not to post is diverted.

I am pretty sure the we can agree, that it is not in LH’s interest that every valued first class passenger flying to BKK starts his journey at CAI. But before someone changes from a “maybe” traveller to someone finally buys the ticket can be a long journey (Just as a matter of curiosity: Why do you think is for a “newbe” much more difficult to buy a RWSTAR in Cairo than for an established customer, given both use the same agent?) IMO Meilensammler and all the others who promote such sensational fares (DELHOPPER I think I know about the other country you are talking about!) have a tough job in deciding how long they put a reservation on hold, how many passenger originating from CAI they put on one plane, etc. If there are too many, this offer may be pulled out sooner, than later. And keep all your fingers cross that LH does not pull out First Class on CAI-FRA, as there is a call for compensation.

Thanks for reading!

Thank you Patron, def. you got the point and it is a pleasure to see that someone experienced is moderating this Board.

Can you please remove or delete the post from londonelite and content of it. Or maybe ask meilensammler if he is ok with it having his name and confidential newsletter shown in public?

I have seen what threats LH used against TA's in connection with the 'other' country. It was not funny.

Taking this into consideration I do not believe that LH finds this board funny either.

Lodnon Elite: Regarding BA's Portugal Fares - This is a very different story as BA is selling special fares (with quiet some restrictions and short ticket validity, not a year) in F to selected destinations in many countries of the world, not only Portugal.

For example in India they are selling A class tickets for 2200 Euros return from Chennai to anywhere in Europe at the moment just to promote their empty F Class Cabin (for a short period). But you just do not get a one year valid unrestricted ticket from BA for such a fare. So do not compare apples with peas.
