"Most of us like to celebrate birthdays with family or friends - ideally over a delicious meal".

LH is obviously putting itself at risk by making such plain statements. I wonder if the influence is from German (i.e. is this a sentence that one would write in German for such a letter) or from LH corporate language.

Entirely depends where the Intern dealing with that serious task is from

LH know their HONs whereabouts...

My birthday this year was celebrated on board a LH flight. I flew (and will fly) back on LH/LX to arrive home in the morning of kids’ birthdays (no delays, please!).

But of course I was there on my wife’s birthday. Otherwise I would have been relieved that she did not get the steak knives as SEN birthday gift

Four years ago, I spent my bday on LX SFO-ZRH and received a bottle of wine of my choice to take with me home. Last year I was on LH SIN-FRA and the cabin crew congregated around me to sing Happy Birthday.

I remember both occasions very well, but I have no recollection whatsoever of what they sent me by post...

Yes that happens on long haul. Have received LPGS and the Taittinger among others (and noted it is easier when you’re on the inbound than on the outbound with HBO).

That said as much as I would appreciate the gesture (as goodwill or attempted poisoning), I would rather not receive any of the wines or the Sekt from LH short haul though.

They sure do !

& if you have to be away from home on your Birthday, it’s a nice place to be as HON, in their care

Indeed,

On your second point, goodwill or attempted poisoning, might take a Jury a long time to deliberate

To speed up jury deliberation, let them sample!

Unless our friend Marcus is the jury.

Lol 😂

I have never asked for anything but ducks and, now, spices.

Ever since I became a SEN, at the beginning of January I used to be sent a SEN birthday card from Miles & More Poland (the big day is mid-January), which was a nice touch.

This year, nothing so far.

Have M&M given up this nice gesture?
