How is Condor Flugdienst?

I am looking at LH 427/426 PHL<-> FRA, it say partnered by Condor Flugdienst. So, what exactly is Condor Flugdienst, how is the inflight service? Anybody on that flight, please share your comments? Thanks.

This is a perfect question to pose on the LH board. Here we go!

"Condor Flugdienst" is the former name of LH's charter-unit. They recently changed their name to "Thomas Cook Airlines".

In this case, they operate two ex-NG 763 on behalf of LH to PHL and ATL. The flights are supposed to be regular LH-service, and seats should be those from the original NG-configuration. As these flights will commence on 3/29, there are no definete informations around except for the rumors going around for a while. See the "763 on LH" post below.

Condor(flight services-English translation) was a charter owned by Lufthansa. They have very poor/charter seating and basic service. It is similar to Martinair from Holland which operates some flights on behalf of KLM.

Actually their inflight food was slightly better/more than LH's on the same distance. Their ComfortClass offers more pitch than LH's C.

I flew FRA-FLL in (old) Comfort Class in 2001. The old seats were quite disappointing, but service and especially food and wine were really good. I was quite puzzled when being served my first LH C meal some months
later...
In late 2001 they upgraded their Comfort Class Cabin by introducing new seats with a greater pitch (125 cm). Never checked that out yet. BTW: There are only 24 CC seats on the 763 and they are highly demanded.

According to checkmytrip.com LH 427 PHL-FRA is back to LH Airbus 330. (On May 03) Did LH change their minds again? That would be welcome as it means miles with Eurobonus. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Searched for some dates for the ATL flight and it is still on Condor.

I first saw it in the new timetable and was sure this must be an error...

Very strange thing...

Condor is owned 90% by Thomas Cook, 10% by Lufthansa.
Thomas Cook is owned 50% by Lufthansa, 50% by retailer KarstadtQuelle - so you could say, LH owns 55% of Condor, Karstadt has 45%.

>>>"Condor Flugdienst" is the former name of LH's charter-unit. They recently changed their name to "Thomas Cook Airlines".

Not quite correct - the company "Condor Flugdienst GmbH" will continue to exist. Itīs just the brand that wonīt really be used any more - except for that "powered by Condor" suffix.

Kind of...they downgraded the aircraft to 332 again in response to the declined bookings due to the war. Currently these measures are in effect until May 19th.

Can I bump this thread to ask how this airline is now in 2014? I'm thinking of their World Cup service to FOR. Do these flights feature flat seats in business class?

I haven't flown with them, but I don't believe that they do.
