Upgrade certs on UA

The LH website now says that we can use LH 50k mile certs on UA to upgrade on a standby basis from Feb 1 (and I read it on FT of course) but details are decidely sketchy. Has anything more been revealed? Can you use certs issued before Feb 1? Is any fare valid? C to F, as well as coach to C or F (on 2 class planes)? Any distance (i.e. ne cert does LAX-JFK, etc)? Does anyone have any experience trying to use these? I'm a 1K/UGS as well as an LH SEN so am wondering if I show up with my UA MP # on a flight reservation, they will accept my LH cert for an upgrade? Apologies if this has been discussed previously. I always figured I would never get to use these certs (since all my travel on LH is paid first or free tix anyway) but this new option gives me hope....

* valid for UA (no code-shares) flights after jan-31-2003
* one certificate for any UA inner-North American flight (any distance, but one 'through'-flight number only - no connections)
* not transferable (one accompanying passenger ok), stand-by only

And two certs are required for an international flight.

So are certs issued before then, even though they say nothing abotu UA on the front, still good? The cert says 'only valid on LH/OS/NG/VO/EW/LO' so I'm assuming I have to wait for a cert issued after Feb 1?

No, look at the expiry date and feel free to use this LH000U upgrade awards (SEN upgrade vouchers) as Rudi & Peter42 explained.

Thanks Patron, just checking (since while the cert is valid for a year it's quite explicit from the conditions that it's usuable only on those airlines mentioned and not UA. It's gerat if this rider is amended by the new benefit.)
