Talks with ver.di failed

From yesterday evening news:
The talks between LH and ver.di failed. LH offered 4,7% (for 26 month) in wages and some participation in LH's profit. ver.di still demands 9% (due to the high pilot wage increase in 2001).
Both sides called for mediation (or is it arbitrage) and there will be no strikes during it as it includes a "Friedenspflicht".

The word you are looking for is arbitration. Arbitrage is a stock market term.

Now Air France is getting in the game - they expect some strike days as well.

Of course, it being Air France, no one will notice the difference.
