The 1:1 rate is not very generous.
E.g. 1 roundtrip in Europe (flysmart) costs 20,000 miles -> 20,000 pb points -> 200 €.
That's ok, but there are also better last minute offers at the infoflyway
or
1 roundtrip in Europe (eco): 30,000 miles -> 30,000 pb points -> 300 €
Not really a good deal.
It may be worth using payback points vor c class (europe 400 €), but not for eco.

Are we back to the discussion of the value of 1 LH mile?
An eco flight within Europe can be worth much more than 200 Euro, especially to Eastern European destinations (which often have no W/V/Q class specials at all!).
Also consider 180k points for a First Class ticket Europe to Asia, for which the green politician Mr Rezzo Schlauch just had to pay 7800 Euro for "misuse of miles" (resulting in over 4 cents per mile).
