But to Asia there are lots of high quality airlines which are vastly superior as LH. SQ,CX and TG, as well as EK,QR and EY. They all have now already by far better premium cabins !

That´s correct, to the US you have no choice, but BA ( with a stopover in LON is no real choice ). Looks like you have to stuck with the "wolf"

Have an upcoming trip in spring to NRT and may try NH then. Well, I would miss the FCT then, but experiencing the masses pain (aka FRA airport T1) once in a year would probably raise the FCT services again for me.

For me, F is about having a comfortable, restful flight with sleep and no jetlag. It's not about getting stuffed with an abundance of alcohol and food, and it's not about wasting valuable time in lounges. Also, since LH isn't escorting then "normal" F pax to flights (except for the FCT, which I almost never use), I have to say that UA F ground service is beating LH's here as well. A good soft product is nice to have, and UA could definitely make improvements here, but it should always come on top of a great hard product. And that's where LH is pathetic.

LH is far behind when it comes to the seat. If I had a choice of UA F (777/747) or LH F (340/747) on LAX-MUC, I'd currently opt for UA metal (assuming there's no FlyNet on both). No question about that. Actually, in LAX, UA F is also ahead of LH F on the ground when it comes to check-in and lounges. LH is leading on-board with food, drinks, amenities (PJs) and a bit more attentive service, sure. But that doesnt mean that I can't change into my PJs on UA metal, as the FA will happily hang my pants in the closet. And at least on my 2 recent flights, there was still more food than I could possibly eat (so I skipped courses).

As there is no economic sense whatsoever to pay for a ticket in F, I guess that what attracts people most is quite simple: exclusivity. People travelling in F want their egos massaged and the only way to do so is impeccable product and service. And I am making no difference here...
The perfect F experience:
The limousine is picking you up at home.
The check-in is a separate terminal.
You are driven to your plane.
The latest seat is waiting for you.
The crew is giving you the best experience ever.
Exclusive food and exclusive drinks are served.
You are driven to your final destination.
The only thing: No one has put all the services together. I have to fly on Emirates to be picked-up at home. I have to fly Singapore to have the latest seat. I have to fly ANA to get free-flow of Krug champagne. On JAL they offer BOSE headsets. Asian carriers have the more attentive crews (Thai excluded). LH did the right thing when they introduced HON Circle (although I am suffering as a SEN...) because it's really exclusive. They did the right thing when they introduced the FTC in Frankfurt because it's really exclusive (and the wrong thing when they introduced the HONdehuette in MUC). But then they forgot to follow-up. No new seats for another four years, no improvements for IFE (touchscreen doesn't count), no turn-down service, no premium champagne and the MS EUROPE menu was the last outstanding food experience - in 2004.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that what they are going to introduce in 2008 is continuing what they have started in 2004...

Are you raid in my territory, I can enter yours :
The old LH F seat is much more snuggly than the UA F suite.
The UA seat is to hard and rigid for my taste.
But I agree that F is the product where UA and LH are closest to
each other. Much unlike C where LH randomly is far superior or
ways worse than UA and Y where LH is consistently RyanAir-ish.

A eunuch FA fanning you non-stop for 18hrs with a palm frond?
Don't try to find the reason people fly F by searching too deep into their minds. Just search deep into their pockets. @:-)
BTW, say hi to Princess Kiko from my lowness ^

That is putting it very mildly - no seats either. All I see is a biggish
380 hanging around there.
Where did you spot the new seats?
I wonder what fraction of the F flyers is actually aware of what
is coming to them? I mean you can't tell from an airlines website,
you will have to read this forum.
I reckon that a substantial percentage have a very, very
blurry notion of what to expect.

There are no pictures - just the announcement that one of the future topics released on the page will deal with both the new First and the new Economy. Antinori was just talking about the new F product...
First pictures will be released on this page for sure... I think they might have a couple of new F seats flying around in 2007 for final tests...
