2 F Passangers held captive at FCT ...

So this is a novelty ....

Yesterday my baby LH 572 went mechanical (dealy was supposed to be 40 min.. turned out to be just over three hours (original departure is 22:40) (They had to change an engine on hte 747, and for that it was towed to the hangar....

We were the last two in the terminal and slowly everyone was leaving. In the end it was the two of us, an LH employee and one of the service people ...

Departure was definite at 1:50, relieve crew was calledfrom standby, and we get ready (in one car as everyone else had left) we drive to the gate and... nothing. Gate was locked , from the outside, by security - so no one has the key, and the exits are all going land side. They try to call security, to no avail. So another 30 minutes wondering what to do....

Suddenly a Bundespolizei van comes up on the other side of the fence, and we are told they will get us out. So we leave through the emergency exit into the non sterile area, and walked to the van and driven by a police escort to the plane, through a cargo gate about a mile away ... .. about 5 LH people wait at the gate all doors held open three guys jumping to get the luaggage, we walk in door closes and before we are sititng upstairs the plane pushes back .. no one could believe what had happened

We had a great time on board..

I'm not surprised. Everything seems to shut down after expected departure of the last flight.

Had a somewhat similar experience shortly after the opening of the FCT. I was taken to the wrong side of a gate which had a Schengen and a Non-Schengen side. Nobody was able to figure out how to get me across. Finally a flight manager of another flight stepped in and asked the ground crew to pull up the stairs to the back door of the plane. I was taken back outside and entered the plane from the back. Quite funny how some fellow passengers looked at me.
