You treat your imps really nicely as it looks.

But for folks who don't fly much would it not be cheaper to just buy them a tix on any carrier in order to get them there? After the capacity needs to be there somehow, otherwise the booking guarantee would not work in the first place.

Flying straight to a destination out of FRA any carrier aside LH (or *A) is difficult to many destinations and even impossible to some. Plus, the employee is happy to keep the status and more motivated and may not ask for another raise of salary.

Pride would be creased upon the thought of paying 2K Euro for that SEN status .

Got my letter today! Still think it is weird to send them so early in the year to people who are almost at 100k status miles.

Value of Senator Status... LH a little optimistic

I have around 60K status at the moment and I just got a letter from Lufthansa asking if I wanted to renew my status for 1 year for 2000 EUR

I'm aware that 99,999 status miles in a year are worth nothing without that last all important mile, but does anyone other than Lufthansa think that SEN status (no award miles or eVouchers) is worth 2000 EUR per year?

I just saw that the letter said "Wir möchten, dass Sie Senator bleiben" at the top. I thought they wanted to reduce the number of SENs?

They still do like SENs who pay big $$$, but rarely fly *A (hence don't use the perks).

Yes, I believe Bundestagsabgoerdnete still have the SEN card. IIRC it also has "Bundestag" printed on the card.

I am wondering if the Swiss politicians enjoy the same privileges? Does anyone know that?

Why would Swiss politicians want a card with "Bundestag" printed on it?

They would rather prefer "Bundesrat" on their card....(7)

The others would have to go with "Nationalrat" (200) or "Ständerat" (46).

So they would not dramatically increase the amount of SENs.

According to our beloved NZZ, they do not longer. They did on SR but with the demise of that vehicle, the more subtle and silent form of Nepotism was resurrected.

But unlike the Bundestagsabgeordnete, the Swiss folks can burn their miles at will and their local fiscal authorities can tax them - also at will .

There is no "Bundestag" printed on it.

The members are also entitled to officially maintain 2 accounts as an exception to separate "government miles" from "private miles"
