Curiosity: does anybody pay for SEN?

Hello,
Just fell back from SEN to FFT and the accompanying letter offered one year SEN for 1400 euros.
IMHO this seems a bit steep given drastically lower quality of lounges in FRA&MUC, the nice ones world wide I can count on the fingers of my hands. Priority boardings lately seem have questionable priority and finally since pandemic I've never had the (ego boosting!! ahah) of personal welcome
All in all the price seems better spent on an upgrade
Am I being to Uncle Scrooge?

For 1400 you can get another *G status. Granted, that involves flying, so time and ancillary costs.
I'm not sure if you get eVouchers though if you buy a year of SEN.

This year is the last chance to get SEN for two years, If you add up 1400 plus 1400 for two years of SEN for purchase, I would rather invest the money towards SEN qualification in 2023.

Yes. 1400 - if you don't have another *G status - is reasonable. Especially if you need the better award availability and the arrivals lounges.

I just "enjoyed" the horrific ZRH lounge, so bashing the FRA and MUC lounges seems a tad unfair to me.

Trust me, we all asked questions during this Webcast which were never read or addressed, I asked two questions myself. BS!
One never know, both my questions were answered (but i posted them there multiple times) :-)

Anyone knows if paying the 1400 Eur for 1 additional year, gets us any evoucher? Would it be 1 as I believe was the case at some point, or 2 as a regular status renewal? Thanks!

To explain better, I'm currently FTL and was SEN until this year. I have un upcoming family trip (4 pax) and was looking into upgrading from V to PE. I currently have 2 evouchers on my account.

It used to be one eVoucher for cash extension in recent years when it cost 2000€. Not sure if it’s good value for money to pay 1400€ for one V to PE upgrade which isn’t even guaranteed.

Out of curiosity, what would be the path towards that? My regularly earned *G is expiring at the end of the year but if I could renew it (at another airline) for 1400€, I'd be game. Especially if it involves flying so I also get some trips for the money

Thanks! For just 1 eVoucher, would not be interesting, I agree.

But if it was 2, plus the 2 on my account already (and after having already looked into EF), I would take my chances. As I have a second long-haul trip latter in the year with *A (with one long connection), even if that latter one is already on C, having SEN lounge access would also be nice and further spread out the cost.

I'm not sure anymore what I modelled, I thought it might be your regular *G but that is more like 2800. A3 maybe? That one is ridiculously easy to maintain, but less so to earn.

Extend SEN status with miles or cash

Could not find a relevant thread. But please move, if I have missed it.

I will not renew my SEN status this year, I barely will reach FTL.

I have just received an offer to extend SEN status by another year by either paying 200k miles or 2000€.
I am seriously considering doing so, the 2 e-vo<uchers alone seem to be worth the 2k€ (to upgrade to F) and the benefits of better seats and more luggage, F Award on LX

Just wanted to hear the thoughts from you folks on FT, if you think it is worth it or not, in view of the new M&M Program in 2024.

TIA.

These questions are hard to answer in a general way. It’s very individual. Particularly depends on how often you will fly LH group next year. I would not equate 2 evouchers with 2k, but they are clearly worth something. Lately LH ends up handing out lots of upgrades to status pax because of fuller than usual planes. That situation may continue for some time, so, again, you flying a lot LH in 2024 makes the offer more attractive.

Do they give 2 evouchers this year? It used to be only 1 for "paid renewal" AFAIR

hmmm, unsure, it was not mentioned, but I would assume, if the status is extended, I get the exact same benefits.

Update, I read the T&C. They give you 2 evouchers:

The new Senator status is valid until February 2025 – even if it is purchased after February 2024. You will receive two upgrade vouchers (eVouchers). It is not possible to apply for a Senator card for more than one year at a time.The renewal sum will be charged to your credit card. The stated prices include the applicable statutory VAT. Should it not be possible to debit your credit card for reasons for which the operators are not responsible, the operators reserve the right to block the Senator card. In this case the card should no longer be used and must be returned to one of the operators without delay. Payment is only possible in euros. You have also the possibility to redeem your Award miles. The redeemed miles will be automatically deducted from your Miles & More account on conclusion of the order process. Award miles may not be redeemed by individuals for purposes associated with their business or self-employment. Customers are not automatically entitled to receive an invoice.

A refund – either in full or pro rata – of the renewal sum is excluded; this applies in particular in the following cases:
- if the Senator status card is returned after the 14-day cooling-off period and its services are not or no longer used;
- if the number of Points and Qualifying Points required for Senator status is booked to your account during the period in which your new Senator status is valid;
- a refund for a curtailed status period because of the purchase within the current status period is also excluded.
