plenty of people fly that much (that’s „just“ 75 RTs through a hub) on regular schedule. Wouldn’t be surprised if that’s 1000+ fresh HONs and 10000s of fresh SENs.

if you are located near one of the main LOT hubs in Poland you could do 8 segments per day without that much pain.

that would still mean 40 flying days, or almost every weekend such flying day. But if you combine it with regular travel to just stock up on miles..

so far, cheapest mileage runs were in F intercontinental from cheaper airports like Kiev, Oslo, Budapest. In the future there seems to be different strategies possible. North Africa/Near East runs.

if flying from Turkey to Lebanon yields 50 points per segment in C on TK, it could become very interesting.

As discussed at length, I don’t think there is going to be a material change in HON numbers. Perhaps a material change in composition at best.

And if you want to put your body through what seems like an epic gauntlet, go for it. IMO, you’ve earned HON (but at what expense?).

It really comes down to what your goals are:

1) if your goal is HON status, easiest way now is to game system via P fares.

2) If your goal is to fly F as much as possible, easiest way is to buy F tickets, and particularly F tickets that are “cheap.”

For once, I was trying to be more delicate. But yes, agreed.

TBF even the number of business flights on the current system that it takes to make HON... I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

I’d rather do 300 segments in Poland than shuttle back and forth in NEK to various countries struggling with Islamic terrorism.

I remember an article in the German news magazine "Der Spiegel" a couple years back. The topic was on frequent flyer programs and status levels & benefits. They quoted a guy who racked up some serious debt in order to make HON and once he made it he couldn't make any use of it, because apparently he couldn't afford flying any more.

The problem for LH is not the way, how people fly to get HON. The problem is, how they fly after they‘ve got HON.

If someone flow 300 Y segments a year within Poland only, he would be the best HON for LH ever as he has no time to get use of any HON benefits.

Indeed. The insanity of flying 300 domestic flights in Poland makes some of the other mileage runs such as (for a BA card) RIX-HEL-LHR-MAN-DUB-SNN-BOS-LGA-PHL-MCI-ORD-DFW-TUL-PHX-LAX-HNL and back appear as almost an act of genius.
