done.

Full report:
  • on Thu called Amex to transfer points to Payback.de
  • Fri morning points were in my payback account
  • Minutes later I did the transfer to MM
  • Made 3x transfers because some points were not "final" and it took me a while to understand they can't be transferred just yet
  • 100k, 20k, 5k
  • Miles were credited to my account exactly 1 week later (next Friday morning)
  • no account review / suspension or any other question from anyone
  • surprisingly, the bonus miles were was immediately credited by MM, even if T&Cs mention the bonus will be credited 6weeks after the promo ends (End of June)

And I immediately booked the targeted award flight.

So, just as a data point, I transferred 10,000 points and they appeared almost immediately, along with the 3,000 bonus points.

I was just wondering if the ability of transferring Payback points into M&M miles will be stopped in the near future?

Amex just reduced their Payback earning potential from 1 Payback point per 2Euro to 1 Payback point per 3Euros and that got me wondering if perhaps Payback might be on it's way out as a M&M partner.

I don't follow the logic. The change means that Amex is issuing fewer Payback points for the same amount of CC turnover. Why would that make Amex less willing to bear the cost of converting them to M&M?

Payback has long term agreements with M&M, I doubt they will change so quickly… the regular 25% and recent 30% promos show that the offtake is not as contracted and needs to be pushed/nudged regularly.
